Congratulations to all three Milton orchestras- Concert, Sinfonia, and Chamber- that traveled to North Atlanta HS Thursday and earned unanimous Superior ratings at Large Group Performance Evaluation!
Superior is the highest rating that a group can be awarded by a panel of three performance judges and a sight reading judge at this Georgia Music Educators Association annual event.

Your opinion matters. Fulton County Schools encourages parents to take the Annual Parent Perception Survey between February 13 and March 10. The survey is anonymous and confidential and should take about 15 minutes to complete. Please complete one survey per school where you have one or more students enrolled. Additionally, students in grades 4-12 will take the Annual Student Perception Survey between February 13 and 24 during the school day.

MILTON'S 2023 VALEDICTORIAN | |

Class of 2023 Valedictorian: Isabella Szabo
Isabella attended the Georgia Governor's Honors Program as a finalist in Spanish and she has taken an Advanced Spanish Composition course at the University of Arizona. She is a Coach and Captain of the Milton Science Olympiad Team and medaled at both Regional and State-Level Competitions. She is a four-year member of the Milton Beta Club, currently serving as President, and helped organize Beta's Used Prep-Book Drive for the past two years. She is an active member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Spanish National Honor Society at Milton. Isabella has been named a National Merit Scholarship Finalist and is a recipient of the Georgia Seal of Biliteracy.
In addition to academics, Isabella has played the Viola for seven years and is a member of the Milton Chamber Orchestra. She currently interns at DMD Engineering and Testing Inc. and is a remote intern with Solutionz Inc.'s Grants Department, where she helps with outreach campaigns that raise awareness about distance learning and telemedicine grants in rural communities. She is Undecided as far as which college she wants to attend, but her goal is to double major in Chemistry and Spanish, then use that degree to conduct research in sustainable Chemistry.

MILTON'S 2023 SALUTATORIAN | |

Class of 2023 Salutatorian: Rebecca Yu
At Milton, Rebecca is a team Captain and Coach of the Science Olympiad Team. Competing since freshman year, she has garnered over 20 medals in various subjects at the Invitational, Regional, and State-Level. Additionally, she is the Vice President of Milton Beta Club and Milton Hack Club. She took part in the Fulton County Student Technology Competition, becoming a Georgia state qualifier for her top performance in both Internet Applications and Programming Challenge. Rebecca actively participates in the competitive Math Team, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society. She has received recognitions as a Milton Class of 2023 PAGE STAR Student, a U.S. Presidential Scholars Nominee, a Georgia Tech Stamps Scholarship Semifinalist, and a National Merit Finalist.
Rebecca played violin in the Milton High School Sinfonia Orchestra and is also a pianist outside of school. Additionally, as a visual artist, she has won a Regional Honorable Mention and a National Silver Medal in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for her artworks.
Rebecca is Undecided as far as college selection, but she is particularly interested in harnessing the power of computing to advance research in biology and medicine. She currently works as a student researcher in a quantitative genomics lab at Emory University, where she is developing an ML-based web tool for analyzing gene expression data to better predict human diseases. She was also selected to attend the Georgia Tech AI4ALL summer program, where she delivered a poster presentation on evaluating gender- and genre-based bias in movie dialogue. She hopes to one day make breakthroughs in science and technology that can positively impact the world.

MILTON HOSTING FENCING STATES | |
On February 25th, Milton Fencing Club will host the GHSFL (Georgia High School Fencing League) Individual State Championship at Milton High School. There will be over 120 fencers from 19 high schools to compete in men and women division. Only fencers who placed in the top 16th in at least one tournament during school year will be qualified to participate.
The event is open to public, come to support your Milton fencing team!

MILTON WELCOMES SISTER SCHOOL | |
For the first time in 3 years, Milton will host a group of 6 students and one teacher from our sister school in Okinawa 2/20-2/28. Milton's sister school relationship with Hokuzan High School started in 2014. Since then, over 40 students from Milton and 50 from Hokuzan have spent a week living with a host family and attending their sister school. This summer, Milton will send another 27 students to Japan as part of the New Perspectives: Japan Program. If you see our guests this week, greet them with a big O-MEH-DEH-TOH! | |

- Thank you to the parent volunteers who helped clean out and organize the stadium ticket room. A huge shout out to MHS parent Keesha Asher for leading this initiative!
- Last week, we treated our MHS Staff to Alumni Cookie Dough for a Valentine's Day treat for February staff appreciation.
- In Academia Support, the PTO purchased items including a heat press, 3D printer, and a laser engraver for our TAG department.

2022-2023 AP LATE REGISTRATION/CANCELLATION | |
If a student has been enrolled in year-long F2F and GAVS AP courses or fall (one semester) AP courses and did not register before the November 15 deadline, they must pay $40.00 late fee for each exam being ordered. If the fee is not paid by Friday, March 10, 2023, the exam(s) will not be ordered.
Students must follow the steps below to pay late registration/cancellation fees:
- Go to Milton High School website
- Click in Online School Payments (OSP)
- Click Advanced Placement Late/Cancellation Fee (right side of the screen)
- Complete the Order Form (be sure to pay $40.00 for each exam you want to register or cancel)

Save receipt for records.
- Student must email receipt to: Monica White at whiteml@fultonschools.org
Student must state the following in the email: Student Name
- Subject exam(s) student wants ordered/cancelled
- Teacher(s) and Period(s) of AP course(s) in which the student is enrolled
Once Ms. White receives the email with the above information and receipt attached, (1) she will email student with JOIN CODE(s), so student can register for the exam(s) through College Board or (2) cancel the exam(s).
Deadline for all AP exam orders is
Friday, March 10 at 11:59 pm.

MILTON ARTS COUNCIL AUDITION WORKSHOP | |
Milton Arts Council is proud to present our Audition Workshop.
This session will be taught by MHS theater and University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance alum, Lauren Dominguez-Kenner. It is designed to improve knowledge of and confidence in the high school theater audition process.
The workshop will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 1-4pm at Community Place, adjacent to City Hall in Milton.

100 Years of Milton High School
MHS History Documentary
The MHS 100th Anniversary video is a documentary of the history of Milton High School from its establishment in 1921 through 2021. The video highlights and celebrates alumni and staff members who are representative of all those who have been affiliated with MHS through its first one hundred years. This video was made during our 100th anniversary year and was premiered on the day of our special celebration. The 100th anniversary video, in addition to a video from Cady Studios made specifically about Milton as it is today, can be seen on YouTube at the following link. Thanks to Mark Maloney (MHS Alumni Parent) and MJM Productions for the creation of the 100th anniversary video and special thanks to the MHS 100th Anniversary Committee for assisting in the production.

Registration Timeline for 2023-2024 SY
As shared in the Registration 101 Sessions and on the Eagle Update, the expected registration timeline is as follows:

Monday, February 20: Students will receive Verification Form #2 (limited number of changes allowed)

Friday, February 24: Verification Form #2 is DUE (Form #2 is the last opportunity to indicate you want an online course in your schedule for the 2023-2024 school year)
Course selections during registration are considered FINAL. There are limited to no opportunities for additional changes beyond these deadlines. Students are advised to use the time allotted to make educated decisions; turning in the Verification Form faster does not mean you have a better chance of getting your desired schedule

Peachtree College Planning Presents: Junior Jumpstart!
MHS Counseling is a proud partner of Peachtree College Planning, and Junior Jumpstart is a great first step to successful college planning. This workshop will be hosted virtually on February 22 at both 12PM and 7PM. All parents of students Grades 9-11 are invited to register. Workshop topics include:

An Internship will also provide you with a mentor in your field of interest who can provide guidance about what your educational next steps should be to best prepare for a career in that field.
