June is ALS Awareness Month, and as such it is the time that our community truly comes together to support each other. While the pandemic has moved our largest Walks and Runs to virtual events for a second year in a row, we are blown away by the continued support of our community. Below you will read about the amazing fundraisers, partnerships and ideas of our friends and families from across the province. The ingenuity of everyone this past year has buoyed us and our families, as we continue our mission of making each day the best possible day for those living with and affected by ALS.
I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce the ALS Society of Alberta Board of Directors for 2021. Our incredible leaders are Nancy Lyzaniwski, Cathy Martin, Gord Banting, Tara Pentney, Heather Haddow, Jim Robinson, Kimberly Howard and Pamela Keenan.
This incredible group of individuals led our Society through the last year, dealing with a pandemic that shook the world. Their constant and unwavering support was there to ensure we continued to make each day the best possible day for our families affected by ALS. All having been personally touched by ALS, and their commitment to the cause is unwavering.
Finally, thank you to all of our supporters, volunteers, donors, sponsors, staff and friends. Without you, we could not have continued to support our families through the past year of COVID-19, as we pivoted and changed processes, while still maintaining our services. This weekend, as we celebrate Betty's Run for ALS and the Walks to End ALS, we feel the closeness of our community even though we are apart.
Please take a moment to read the information below - we know there are some events and campaigns that will be of interest in the coming days and weeks!

Executive Director, ALS Society of Alberta

Sea Change Brewery - Adam's Pale Ale
|
Sea Change Brewing Co. has partnered with the ALS Society of Alberta to raise awareness and funds for ALS in memory of Edmonton community member Adam Rombough, who passed from ALS in 2018 at the age of 34. To carry on his legacy, and continue advocating for ALS, Sea Change Brewing Co. has crafted their new Adam’s Pale Ale. For every four-pack sold, the brewery will donate $1 to the ALS Society of Alberta. We are so excited about this amazing campaign - read more about Adam and Adam's Pale Ale here, watch for it at your local liquor store, and keep an eye on social media for people having #OneonAdam this weekend (maybe after Betty's Run or a Walk to End ALS)!

Devil's Head Coffee - Moments Blend
Our friends at Devil's Head Coffee have stepped up once again, this time creating a custom blend for the ALS Society of Alberta. $2 from each bag sold will be donated to the Society. “Moments” is a custom blend created for the month of June to celebrate ALS Awareness. The name “Moments” reminds us all to appreciate each and every moment that we have, including just having coffee with loved ones on a Saturday morning.
