During the 21 years it was held, the ACCTS Interaction program brought 227 participants, many of them couples, to the USA for two weeks of discipleship and leadership training, interaction with one another and US military Christians, and exposure to US culture. The program produced 28 AMCF leaders, including two Association of Military Christian Fellowships (AMCF) presidents, and several AMCF Principal Supporting Organization (PSO) staff members.
A couple from Uganda attended one of the interactions, and the wife was given a vision to start a military wives Christian fellowship in her country. The picture above shows the group meeting with the the President of Uganda.
At the 2014 AMCF global Interaction in South Africa, the need for an AMCF Interaction program was identified by the AMCF leadership. At the 2015 ACCTS staff conference, this vision was discussed among the PSO representatives, and raised again at a European Leaders meeting in 2017. These discussions established the following goals for an AMCF Interaction:
1. To glorify God
2. To leverage the work begun at GI 2014
3. To expand understanding of how we are “All One in Christ Jesus”
4. To develop a cadre of future leaders for the AMCF by:
a. Providing discipleship and leadership training for proven senior military Christian leaders
b. Fostering relationships that will strengthen the AMCF and its members
The following experiences were identified as the primary benefits of ACCTS Interaction: fellowship with other delegates; interaction with host country military Christians; discipleship and leadership training; and exposure to the host country culture and military.
In October 2020, a Pray and Plan team was formed to seek God’s will for developing an AMCF Interaction experience that could replicate the experiences of the original interaction program to help develop future AMCF leaders. Pray for this initiative as past participants, AMCF leaders, and PSO representatives unite in prayer to discern God’s plans for a AMCF Interaction.
