The Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs logo has the full organization name, the initials AMCHP in large uppercase letters, and three pairs of silhouettes, including a pregnant person and a child, a young person and a child using a wheelchair, and an adult holding a child to show different groups of people that AMCHP serves. A semicircle resembling a rising sun is in the background behind the people.

Help Shape AMCHP’s Fiscal Sustainability Resource

Considering large-scale funding cuts and growing uncertainty, AMCHP’s MCH Innovations Committee is developing a new Fiscal Sustainability Resource to help the maternal and child health (MCH) field strengthen fiscal sustainability and ensure the longevity of impactful and effective programs and policies.

We invite you, especially those in Title V, community-based organizations, and those whose work relies on federal funding, to take part in a short needs assessment survey that will inform the development of this resource. The current environment presents significant challenges, as shifts in grant priorities and external pressures have created instability that directly impacts the sustainability of many MCH programs. It is now more important than ever to identify strategies that help organizations remain resilient, mission-driven, and financially stable.

The Fiscal Sustainability Resource aims to:

  • Provide practical guidance for strategic planning and sustainability
  • Offer strategies for balancing a stable portfolio of funding
  • Highlight effective and promising approaches that organizations can implement

Your input will help ensure this resource reflects the real challenges and opportunities facing organizations like yours.

The survey will take approximately 7–10 minutes to complete, and all responses will remain confidential. The survey closes on November 7.

Call to Action

Protecting SNAP & WIC Funding to Support Families

As Congress continues to negotiate federal funding, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) remain at risk of harmful funding disruptions that may hinder their ability to provide essential nutrition services to women, infants, and children nationwide.

WIC provides vital access to breastfeeding support, formula, nutritious foods, and developmental services for pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women and young children. SNAP serves as a core food security lifeline for low-income families — reducing hunger and improving maternal and child health outcomes.

Advocacy organizations across the country are urging Congress to act swiftly to fully fund these programs and ensure families do not face interruptions in benefits.

Ensuring stable funding for SNAP and WIC will:

  • Protect maternal and infant nutrition security and reduce risk of hunger
  • Prevent disruption of care for WIC clinics and families relying on benefits
  • Uphold proven MCH outcomes, including healthier pregnancies and childhood development

Your voice can make a difference in preventing benefit delays and reinforcing our national commitment to maternal and child health.
