The spring air has brought in some spring behavior that is disrupting our local and school communities. Please be sure to speak with your child about appropriate actions and interactions within our halls and our streets. I am noticing an increase in physical aggression. Unlike the past, these are not causing major disruptions to our halls and learning environment, but they are harming the relationships of the children involved and resulting in significant consequences in line with our code of conduct. Students who engage in physical altercations will receive at minimum a 3 day out of school suspension. Anyone recording these acts will also receive at minimum a 3 day out of school suspension. We cannot allow this behavior to impact the culture we have built at AMD. I am proud to say, it is not.

I would like to reiterate that all student cell phones must be off and away beginning at 7:49 AM. Our team will be collecting any phones that are visible after this time.

We have a lot of learning to continue. I joke that this is a palace of learning, but it is! Despite the challenges we face (and middle schools everywhere face!) our children are growing and changing every day. We see it in their actions and interactions with one another and their excellence and achievement within the classrooms. Not only are they excelling in their core academic classes, but their energy and enthusiasm in physical education and the arts is palpable!

Next week we will host a brief school wide virtual assembly to reset expectations for this spring to ensure that we have an incredible season of learning, growth, kindness and love.

El aire primaveral ha traído algunos comportamientos primaverales que están perturbando nuestras comunidades locales y escolares. Por favor, asegúrese de hablar con su hijo acerca de las acciones apropiadas y las interacciones dentro de nuestros pasillos y nuestras calles. Estoy notando un aumento en las agresiones físicas. A diferencia del pasado, estas no están causando grandes interrupciones en nuestros pasillos y ambiente de aprendizaje, pero están dañando las relaciones de los niños involucrados y resultando en consecuencias significativas en línea con nuestro código de conducta. Los alumnos que participen en altercados físicos recibirán como mínimo 3 días de suspensión fuera de la escuela. Cualquiera que grabe estos actos también recibirá como mínimo 3 días de suspensión fuera de la escuela. No podemos permitir que este comportamiento afecte la cultura que hemos construido en AMD. Me enorgullece decir que no es así.

Tenemos mucho que aprender. Bromeo diciendo que esto es un palacio de aprendizaje, ¡pero lo es! A pesar de los retos a los que nos enfrentamos (¡y a los que se enfrentan las escuelas secundarias de todo el mundo!) nuestros hijos crecen y cambian cada día. Lo vemos en sus acciones e interacciones entre ellos y en su excelencia y logros dentro de las aulas. ¡No sólo están sobresaliendo en sus clases académicas básicas, pero su energía y entusiasmo en la educación física y las artes es palpable!

Keeping Emergency Contact Information Current

As shared in previous communications, we request that all families update their child’s emergency information, including updated names and phone numbers of family members or friends authorized to pick up your child in your absence. Our policy is that any person picking up a student must be at least 16 years of age and must show ID to our school staff.

Below are the steps to take when changing information in Infinite Campus:

Log on and select your child’s name.
Click on the top left corner and hit the three lines.
Hit MORE, and you will see that DEMOGRAPHICS appears.
Hit on demographics, and you can then update your child’s information.
You will receive a message informing you that the information is being reviewed.
The District registration clerk will approve the changes.

Please note that you can only update the following information: email addresses, phone numbers, and non-household contacts. The change of home address must be completed at central registration.
