AME Responds to B.C. Budget 2021

The B.C. Budget 2021 announcement acknowledges the critical role that a strong mineral exploration industry plays in supporting the transition to a low-carbon future in B.C. through investments in infrastructure, skills training and permitting. Kendra Johnston noted: "We thank the government for its support in ensuring that mineral exploration can proceed safely as an essential service and look forward to continuing to contribute to local economies across the province this year.”

Calling all Mentors: Be Part of AME’s Mentorship Program

Back by popular demand, AME is planning to launch our 3rd annual Mentorship Program. We are looking for professionals in mineral exploration and development who can mentor a 4th year undergraduate student or an early career professional. This is your opportunity to have a positive influence on a young professional’s career while gaining perspective on the challenges new professionals are facing. The program will kick-off in the Fall.

PHO: New Order for Industrial Camps

A revised Order for Industrial Camps was issued April 13, 2021 to prevent and control the risk of transmission of COVID-19.The guidance document on industrial camps and worksites will similarly be updated over the coming week to help sites prepare protocols, and coordinators for inspections. Please note. inspections are required at sites again this year, even if the sites were inspected last year.

Code Review Reporting Survey

The Mine Audits and Effectiveness Unit is undertaking a consulting project for the Code Review Secretariat to complete an overall review of the Code. The Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation are asking you to complete the survey to help with on-going research. Complete the survey now; it will be available until 11:59pm on April 25, 2021
GoFundMe campaign saves Mooses Down Under from closure due to COVID-19
