Engineers and Geoscientists BC Transitions to New Legislation - Townhall Meeting on February 25
On February 5, 2021, the Professional Governance Act came into force - the new governing legislation for professional regulators in the natural and built environment, including Engineers and Geoscientists BC. It replaces the Engineers and Geoscientists Act, and introduces new regulatory tools, processes, and requirements for Engineers and Geoscientists BC and its registrants, ultimately creating a stronger regulatory framework and a safer British Columbia. Join EGBC and the Office of the Superintendent of Professional Governance on February 25 for a town hall meeting on what AME members need to know about the new Act including regulation of firms.
Changes to the Health, Safety and Reclamation Code - Coming April 1
Following a recommendation by the Mining Jobs Task Force, a Standing Code Review Committee was established in 2019 with representatives from Indigenous communities, labour, and industry, to review B.C.’s mining regulations in light of evolving trends and to ensure that the health, safety, and environment at mine sites is at the forefront of operations.

The committee unanimously recommended eight revisions to the Code to improve safety at B.C. mines; to clarify and modernize existing provisions; and, to ensure the Code remains current in relation to changing standards and federal regulations. View the Revisions.
