Surviving Against All Odds | |
Winny had been told her premature baby would not survive. Born far too early and weighing only 2.2 pounds, he was placed in a box and sent home for burial.
But on the motorcycle ride home, Winny heard something no one expected.
A cry.
Her baby was alive.
Winny and her husband rushed him to Kapsowar Mission Hospital in Kenya, where trained staff immediately began the lifesaving work of warming his tiny body, starting fluids, providing antibiotics, and surrounding him with the careful care premature babies need to survive.

For 47 days, Winny stayed by his side. And because a mission hospital was ready — with trained staff, essential equipment, and the support of partners like African Mission Healthcare — she eventually walked out carrying her son in her arms.
This is more than a story of one baby’s survival. It is a glimpse into the training, dedication, and hospital readiness that make lifesaving care possible for vulnerable children across Africa.

Asia has spent years caring for mothers at St. Theresa Hospital in Nzara, South Sudan. Although she was an experienced and trusted midwife, she recognized a critical gap in her ability to care for premature and critically ill newborns. Through an African Mission Healthcare training program, made possible by your generous partnership Asia traveled to AIC Kijabe Hospital in Kenya to receive specialized neonatal training.
At Kijabe, Asia gained hands-on experience in caring for vulnerable newborns, learning advanced techniques in neonatal nutrition, infection management, phototherapy for jaundiced infants, and modern antibiotic treatment.
Just as importantly, she learned from experienced clinicians who invested in her growth, strengthening her confidence, clinical judgment, and communication with families and colleagues.

Asia will return to Nzara Hospital to help lead the expanded NICU developed with support from African Mission Healthcare.
As AMH continues to strengthen hospitals through both training and strategic investments in equipment and infrastructure, clinicians like Asia will be ready to use these lifesaving tools as they become available.

Helping Mothers in Uganda | |
When a mother needs an emergency C-section, delay can be dangerous.
A new study accepted by BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth shows that African Mission Healthcare’s Surgical Access for Everyone (SAFE) program is helping rural mission hospitals in Uganda improve emergency C-section care. From 2020 to 2023, nearly 70% of mothers received surgery within the recommended 75-minute window, up from just 30% three years earlier. This speed saves lives.

Nuba Mountains | Standing with Frontline Hospitals During Ebola | |
African Mission Healthcare is closely monitoring the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In response, we are working with partners in Ituri Province, DRC, including two hospitals within the CME medical system (Bunia and Nyankunde) and a network of health facilities under the CE-39 church. These brave health workers are caring for vulnerable communities in regions impacted by the outbreak. During public health emergencies such as this, trusted local hospitals often become an essential frontline of care, providing treatment, screening, stabilization, and ongoing access to critical health services for surrounding communities.
AMH provided immediate shipment of personal protective equipment (PPE), pharmaceuticals, and other critical medical supplies; while also providing immediate financial support so the hospitals can source locally available materials and equipment as needed.
