AMHSA's Subscription Service
AMHSA continues to offer its subscription model as an alternative to the classic pay-as-you-go training.

This service increases the volume of courses available, lowers member costs of online delivery, creates an opportunity for members to utilize software modules such as digital forms and training matrices to determine who requires what type of training, and increases overall implementation of health and safety management systems.

Municipal Moments
Upcoming Safety Council Meetings
Don't forget that we are hosting a September 22 Joint NASC/SASC meeting via Zoom due to the current pandemic challenges. If you haven't already registered for our meeting, please click here to register.

We have scheduled a special guest speaker, Todd Conklin, who will discuss team resilience and systems that manage variability during the lunch hour from 12 - 2 pm. Todd will take us on a journey of workers solving problems in real time, how valuable the nature of the worker is, and how your municipality can strive and thrive through challenging times. Bring your own stories of team resilience and the current outlook shift from workers being the challenge to workers being problem solvers.

This lunchtime presentation is also open to our Alberta Cities Safety Council members. If you represent a city municipality, please click here to register.

All municipality representatives are encouraged to attend our safety council meetings according to the area of Alberta they represent. Our Northern Alberta Safety Council includes towns, MDs, villages and counties north of Red Deer while our Southern Safety Council includes towns, MDs, villages and counties in Red Deer and south of Red Deer. Our Alberta Cities Safety Council includes all cities in Alberta.

Our next meeting for our Alberta Cities will be virtual and is scheduled for December 1.

To keep you and our AMHSA staff safe during the quarantine, our meetings for now will be offered virtually until further notice.

These meetings are for members only.

AMHSA's New Course!
Trenchless Underground Construction Awareness
#AMHSA's new Trenchless Underground Construction Awareness (TUCA) online and classroom courses have been designed specifically for municipal and other workers who do not have a strong foundation of knowledge in the industry, and who may be visiting or interacting with trenchless underground construction sites or technology.

These courses will allow participants to safely visit trenchless underground construction sites, and to understand the health and safety considerations on these sites if they are involved in planning or development.
Trenchless underground construction sites present specific health and safety considerations, and these innovative new online and classroom courses provide practical understanding of trenchless underground construction sites and methods from a health and safety perspective. They will enable you to develop situational hazard awareness through engaging, informative material that effectively communicates complex, technical, and safety-related information.
You will also be supplied with the knowledge and tools required to recognize, identify, and assess site hazards and to have the confidence and terminology to effectively communicate any observed concerns.
Our online course is FREE to members and $90 for non-members.

To take our online course, click here: Trenchless Underground Construction Awareness Online Course.

AMHSA is also offering a full-day classroom course that will expand and build on the learned knowledge from our online course. Please note that the online course is a prerequisite for the classroom course. Call 1-800-267-9764 for more information or to register for our live webinar classroom course.
Jessica from Mountain View County had this to say about our new course:
From a health and safety perspective, the TUCA course has provided me with a basic understanding of the history of trenchless underground construction, and how it may apply to some municipalities here in Alberta. Having no prior knowledge of this subject, I found that the identification and understanding of the various types of energy-based hazards, as well as the site roles and responsibilities were a key takeaway. I also found the chapter knowledge checks to be helpful for retention of the information being learned.”
