WCB is happy to announce that the Bill 30 WCB changes webinar is now live! To check it out, click here .

Seeing the engaged response from employers, we wanted to make the presentation more accessible, so we created a version for our website (for those who maybe can't attend in person, those just looking for a refresh, or those wanting to share the details with their leadership). The webinar is a condensed version of the in-person seminar and is now available in a video format on our website.

The Bill 30 webinar is organized into three separate modules:

1) Bill 30 overview (15 minutes)
2) Employment health benefits (5 minutes)
3) Obligation to reinstate (15 minutes)

AMHSA Staff Profiles

We received a comment from our recent member survey about AMHSA doing features on our staff. We think this was a great idea and will start by featuring our two new employees, Rob Rosete and Scott Lyall:

I’m a Health and Safety Coordinator / Advisor at AMHSA. I started on August 1, 2018. I was a customer of AMHSA when I was a Health and Safety Advisor at Rocky View County. Over the past 12 years, I’ve worked on varies Safety Management Systems (SMS) as a health and safety professional. A few organizations I’ve had the pleasure of working with were WestJet, Imperial Oil, and WorleyParsons.

I’m driven to develop, enhance, and support a comprehensive SMS involving all people who are in contact with the organization/municipality. Components of this drive are to attain loss control, incident prevention, and environmental protection while uniting teams to be their best and give their best. Building this system is also aimed to achieve a valuable and sustainable organization/municipality.

As a parent to a teenager, I enjoy molding her to be a productive, responsible and respectful person. When I’m not at work, I also take pleasure in running long distances which holds positive benefits to my mind, body, and spirit.

I look forward to meeting and working with you during your journey to achieving zero incidents.

Rob Rosete, CRSP

I am happy to be appointed as Project Manager at AMHSA as of August 20, 2018.

Previously, I was a customer care specialist with Business Improvement Solutions (BIS), AMHSA’s primary online safety training and LMS (Learning Management System) partner.

Prior to that, I led the sales, marketing and client services teams for Rolf C. Hagen Inc., the largest pet product manufacturing company in the world based out of Montreal, Quebec.

During my tenure as Vice President Sales & Marketing at Hagen I developed a Global Learning Management System and designed custom training programs which were deployed globally in four languages. It was this project that inspired me to work in the field of course development and training.

Having recently returned to my wife’s home town of Calgary I am having a lot of fun rediscovering all that Alberta has to offer including the Rocky Mountains, beautiful outdoors, and great people.

Sincerely looking forward to meeting everyone and making a difference with AMHSA and our partners.

Scott Lyall, Project Manager

Annual Survey 2018

We thank everyone who participated in our member survey this past summer. Congratulations to Elaine MacDonald, CAO of the Village of Rockyford, for being our winner of the draw!
Audit Dispatch
Our annual Auditing Survey was distributed this summer, and we are pleased to announce that we received almost 100 responses! We are compiling the results and will share the report and any resulting changes to our processes with members soon. We truly appreciate the feedback we received and our stakeholders’ commitment to our COR program.

The Certifying Partner group has adopted the revised provincial standards related to auditor training and the audit tool protocol. The changes are detailed in the July 2018 Auditor Update, which is available on our website at .

As a result, AMHSA has updated its Audit Refresher course, and converted the provincial Audit Tool to Excel. Our Refresher courses as of September 2018 will focus on these changes and the new tool. We are currently working to update our Health and Safety Management Systems and Health and Safety Auditing courses as well, so that the Fall 2018 offerings (scheduled to begin in October) will meet the new standards.

Our COR holders should keep in mind that the new audit tool will be the only tool available for use as of January 1, 2019, and that the requirement for COR Maintenance audits (and action plans conducted in lieu of maintenance audits) to attain a score of at least 60% to pass will also be in effect as of next year.

We currently have room in our October Health and Safety Management Systems courses in both Sherwood Park and Calgary. The Auditing courses are full but interested individuals can be added to a waiting list. We are in the process of scheduling more course offerings for early in the new year. Call 1 800 267-9764 for details and to register!
