AMP SoCal Hosting Free Capital Access Event for Defense Suppliers on April 18

Find out what financial option makes the most sense for your business by attending our free event, hosted by the AMP SoCal Strengthening Competitiveness Program. The event will feature a financial overview, presenting financer expectations and investment conditions, and a panel discussion covering different capital access options, such as.

Supplier Matchmaking

AMP SoCal is assisting SME in coordinating strategic matchmaking appointments at the conference. We are inviting all attending A&D suppliers to sign-up for appointments with OEMs based on the suppliers capabilities matched against the target suppliers the OEM’s would like to meet.

Appointments will be taking place 9:00 am - 3:30 pm on April 30 and/or May 1.

Local Rocket Company Relativity Space Announces First Major Contract
Inglewood, CA based rocket startup Relativity Space has announced that Canadian satellite operator Telesat has contracted to use its 3D-printed spacecraft for launching small satellites. Relativity Space CEO, Tim Ellis, spoke at our Fall 2017 AMP SoCal Bi-Annual Meeting ( see his panel discussion here ). While typical rockets can take more than a year to build and require 100,000 individual parts, Relativity’s huge 3D-printers can build a craft in just two months with only 1,000 parts. 

Harassment Avoidance Web Based Training

According to changes in California State Law, if your organization employs five or more employees you MUST provide two hours of anti-harassment training for supervisory staff and one hour of anti-harassment training for non-supervisory employees. All employees must be trained within six months of being hired and every two years thereafter. Employers have until January, 2020 to complete the training under the new guidelines.

On March 18, the Price School - USC Center for Economic Development offered a one-of-a-kind opportunity to hear from two of the nation’s foremost experts on matters related to cyber preparedness and national security. Together, General Petraeus and Dr. Neuman discussed cybersecurity dangers, recent cyber attacks, what actions the U.S. government and military are taking to prepare its cyber resources - and what more needs to be done.

2018-2019 marked an exciting year for aerospace, especially for the Los Angeles - Las Vegas area! The recent successful and exciting powered human flights into space by the VSS Unity (SpaceShipTwo) (Virgin Galactic), the successful launch and mission of Mars InSight (NASA JPL/Lockheed Martin), Parker Solar Probe (NASA APL), and the TESS exoplanet mission (MIT/NASA Goddard) etc., caught great attention from many people in the world. Human space travel is getting more and more realistic and affordable, with more and more discoveries and understandings for our & distant Solar Systems. There are also new great progresses in student activities. Please join us and have fun.
