AMP SoCal Managed Career Pipeline Pilot Program
We are proud to announce that our Managed Career Pipeline Pilot Program is currently underway at three regional colleges: Cerritos College, MiraCosta College and West Los Angeles College. The program will be piloting partnerships between regional community colleges and workforce investment boards for workforce development and advancement.  The goal is to create a steady stream of skilled workers to fill apprenticeships and job vacancies in manufacturing firms that have been adversely affected by reduced Department of Defense procurement and contracting. Community colleges in the four-county Southern California region of Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego and Ventura counties were eligible to apply. The different areas of focus include a pre-engineering apprenticeship program at WLAC, entry-level welding technician course at MiraCosta’s Technical Career Institute, and an employment pathway that offers three phases of advanced manufacturing training at Cerritos.    CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO
AMP SoCal's Fac-a-thon Links Faculty's Top Minds to
Manufacturing's Top Research Needs

Are you a researcher up to the challenge of solving some of the A&D manufacturing industry's most pressing research issues? The AMP SoCal led Fac-a-thon unites faculty researchers from colleges and universities across the region, pooling their collective brain-power to solve some of the aerospace and defense (A&D) manufacturing industry’s most pressing research issues, while also simultaneously advancing manufacturing development and technology across the nation.

Building off of the “hackathon” model, where programmers and developers across technology fields hold a focused collaborative session for the successful creation of a product, AMP SoCal has developed a similarly structured Fac-a-thon.

AMP SoCal is proud to be a part of the
Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition (SMLC)

AMP SoCal is proud to be a part of the Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition (SMLC) and its winning proposal for the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI) manufacturing hub award. SMLC, a consortium of nearly 200 partners including AMP SoCal, is headquartered in Los Angeles and will lead the new Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute. The award brings over $140 million in public-private investments and will focus on advanced sensors, data analytics, and controls in manufacturing, and reduce costs and improve efficiency of advanced manufacturing in the U.S. There will be five additional regional manufacturing centers launched across the country, each focused on technology transfer and workforce development.     READ MORE
