Upcoming AMP SoCal June Innovation Forum:
Technology Transfer for Small Business
@ UCI Research Innovation Center
In June, AMP SoCal will host an Innovation Forum spotlighting technology transfers occurring through local universities and how to apply them to commercial use. The technology transfer centers from six southern California universities will present current research technology that have practical applications within the aerospace and/or defense industry. Some of the institutions offer an “express license program” which allow for rapid licensing by companies. We are also inviting one of the national laboratories to share information on their technology transfer program.
Stay tuned as we finalize a date shortly and
send out registration links, or email AMPSoCal@usc.edu with questions.

"How Aerospace is Making a Comeback in Southern California"
In April, 89.3 KPCC, a Southern California National Public Radio station, interviewed an AMP SoCal partner, Dr. Christine Cooper, LAEDC's Chief Economist, for a segment titled "How Aerospace is Making a Comeback in Southern California." The story highlights the shift in aerospace manufacturing at the end of the cold war and the changing industry focus towards commercialization.
You might also be interested in listening to a KPCC extended report from last fall highlighting "What gets made in LA is way more than movies". The report focuses on the Southern California region as a major manufacturing hub, specifically aerospace.
