Lieutenant Colonel Robert M. Atkins has 19 years of space system experience with all Air Force Space Command mission areas. He is responsible for the procurement, acquisition, and integration of the Atlas V, Delta IV, and Falcon 9 launch vehicles and regularly meets with manufacturing suppliers across the region.

CED awarded federal grant to bolster aerospace, defense economy in LA
The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration has awarded an $875,000 grant to the USC Center for Economic Development (CED). The funding will allow CED to assist economically distressed areas in Southern California and develop strategies to promote the growth and sustainability of aviation and advanced manufacturing in aerospace and defense.

The Aero-Flex Pre-Apprenticeship Program Provides a Launch Pad to the A&D Industry
Aero-Flex is an employer-driven pre-apprenticeship framework in engineering that meets the workforce development needs common to the aerospace/advanced manufacturing industry. The program recently graduated 19 area high school students through an Aero-Flex model with Northrop Grumman, and the South Bay Workforce Investment Board is looking to expand its training opportunities in the months ahead.
