A Message from AMPLIFY!

Since its launch in 2018, AMPLIFY!, the African American Coordinating Center (AACC), has worked to educate, empower, and mobilize communities across California to fight commercial tobacco. Over the past eight years, we have had the privilege of partnering with advocates, faith leaders, educators, youth, healthcare professionals, and community organizations to amplify Black voices and advance health equity through education, storytelling, and collective action. Together, we have built meaningful partnerships, developed resources, supported local leadership, and strengthened community-driven efforts to create a healthier future. We are incredibly proud of what we have accomplished alongside our partners and are grateful for everyone who has been part of this journey.

We encourage you to continue using the resources we've created, stay connected to the movement, and keep advocating for healthier, tobacco-free communities.

Thank you for allowing us to serve you over the last eight years. It has truly been a pleasure working within our community and alongside so many dedicated partners. We are deeply grateful for your trust, collaboration, and commitment to this work.

In partnership,

Carol McGruder & Y'Lonn Burris

Download the resource today to explore practical strategies, strengthen your community outreach, and equip your team with tools to help more people access the support they need to quit.

AMPLIFY! is especially proud of the tailored technical assistance we have provided over the past eight years to community-based organizations, community leaders, and small businesses across California. Through these efforts, we helped educate and empower Black Californians with information about the harmful and lasting impact that commercial tobacco has had on our communities.

Over the past three years, AMP UP! Community Engagement Activity Award (CEAA) Leadership Development Program successfully engaged and supported 19 organizations and individuals, helping to strengthen local leadership, build community capacity, and advance health equity throughout the state.

We invite you to take a moment to hear directly from Maya Estephanos of Black Hippie, Inc., as she shares her experience and reflects on the program's impact.

Fostering a legacy of physical, mental, and spiritual wellness by supporting Black communities across California.

AMPLIFY! The African American/Black Statewide Coordinating Center is charged with educating and engaging our community to eradicate the number one killer of Black people, deaths caused by tobacco and nicotine addiction. We amplify the voices, cultural wisdom, and collective strength of our people to build strong, healthy communities.
