Hello AMPPE Members!

Congratulations to all on a very successful summer in the mountains! To kick off this newsletter I have an important announcement around the annual AMPPE Gala… due to a scheduling conflict, we have had to change the date of the event to Friday, November 4th. The Gala will go on exactly as previously planned - just 24 hours earlier at the Fairmont Banff Springs – now in the Alberta Room. Thank you to those who have committed to sponsorship, table and ticket purchases and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause in your scheduling. AMPPE Advocacy in Action

AMPPE was recently invited to present to the Federal Standing Committee of Environment and Sustainable Development. Made up of eight Members of Parliament and two environmental analysts, the role of the committee is to is study how to improve and accelerate the process for establishing protected areas in order to meet Canada’s target of protecting 17% of terrestrial and inland water areas and 10% of coastal and marine areas by 2020. One of only eight organizations invited to present in western Canada, AMPPE largely focused our presentation on visitor experience and the importance of supporting tourism in the region while maintaining the ecological integrity. To that effect, Casey outlined opportunities to enhance engagement, access and sustainability within the mountain parks through her presentation, which can be found at the link below.

AMPPE is excited to announce our 16th Annual Fundraising Gala: Hollywood in the Mountains. Inspired by the era of the 1950’s silver screen, the Gala will be held at Fairmont Banff Springs on Friday, November 4th, 2016 (New Date!).

Begin the evening with a photo by the Paparazzi on the red carpet while securing your role as a member of the Glitterati with a champagne cocktail. Enter the glamour of old world Hollywood via The Bourbon Club and peruse the unique silent auction items presented on The Silver Screen. Feast on a gourmet plated meal with wine while enjoying the Oscar worthy Rex Murphy presented by Sunshine Village Ski Area . The swish and swagger will continue into the evening with live music and dancing at the Red Curtain Stage. We hope you will join us in celebrating Hollywood in the Mountains!
