AMPPE to to appear before Standing Committee on Finance on Thursday
AMPPE has been invited to appear before the House of Commons, Standing Committee on Finance on Thursday to discuss the Government of Canada's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

AMPPE Co-Chairs Yannis Karlos and Stuart Back will appear on behalf of AMPPE via Zoom. You can access the live proceedings by clicking the button below on Thursday June 18 at 3 p.m.

Yannis and Stuart will introduce a suite of recommendations to the committee aimed at providing immediate relief and longer term certainty to businesses that operate within the Mountain Parks.

The recommendations include:
  • Waiving entrance fees to the national parks 
  • Extending lease/ license renewals and overholding terms
  • Reinvesting in guest experience
  • Leveraging existing infrastructure stimulus programs to address transportation and facility maintenance backlogs
  • Accelerating plans to reduce the carbon intensity of tourism activity within the parks.
  • Extending CEWS and CECRA to create longer term stability and certainty for mountain park businesses

Appearing before this committee will ensure that the voice of AMPPE will be heard in Ottawa and that AMPPE's views and recommendations will be documented in the Standing Committee report resulting from this session.

Coffee Chat Cancelled Next week

My apologies, but, the weekly Coffee Chats will be cancelled next week so I can attend my daughter's grade 12 graduation in Edmonton. Chats will resume the following week in Banff and Lake Louise.
