Submit a Proposal for the

2024 AMS Annual Meeting

The American Musicological Society (AMS) will hold its 90th Annual Meeting on 14-17 November 2024 in Chicago, Illinois at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel. If you are interested in sharing your work, please review the open calls listed below and submit a proposal. The individual paper, session, and performance proposal deadline is 15 February 2024. The deadline for AMS chapter, study group and committee proposals is 15 March 2024.

A call for study group and committee proposals for business meetings and sponsored sessions.

Time to Submit Pre-Conference Requests


Organizations interested in holding pre-conference events at the 2024 Annual Meeting may now submit reservation requests. Pre-conference event space is first-come, first-served, and as space allows. Organizers must cover their own catering, A/V, and expenses.

The AMS is calling for volunteers to serve as proposal reviewers for the 2024 Annual Meeting. Volunteers must be AMS members and have a PhD or equivalent professional experience in music studies or a related field. (Must log into the AMS website to volunteer.)

Brazil-U.S. Musical Exchange and the Good Neighbor Policy



Join us at the Library of Congress on 20 February 2024 for an AMS/Library of Congress Lecture by Miranda Sousa (University of Pittsburgh). In this lecture, Sousa brings to light the Luiz Corrêa de Azevedo Collection's role in the establishment of interdisciplinary studies for Latin American music at the Library of Congress.
