2022 Joint Annual Meeting Website &

Submission Portal Now Available!

The submission portal for the 2022 AMS-SEM-SMT Joint Annual Meeting is now open! The AMS invites a range of proposal types for the meeting, which will be held at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel, 10-13 November 2022. Eligibility requirements and submission details are available on the event website.

Paper and performance proposals are due 15 February. Committee, study group, and CAM Special Call proposals are due 15 March. CAM Special Call proposals are limited to AMS chapters, study groups, and committees. Questions? Consult the FAQs or contact us at events@amsmusicology.org.

Did You Know?

The AMS Alternate Years Rule, which restricts the participation of individuals in successive meeting years, has been suspended for the 2022 Joint Annual Meeting. This means that individuals who participated in the 2021 AMS Annual Meeting are eligible to do so in 2022 as well. Tell a friend!

CALL FOR PROPOSAL REVIEWERS

The AMS calls for volunteers to serve as proposal reviewers for the 2022 AMS Annual Meeting. AMS members with a PhD in musicology or a related field, but who are not submitting a proposal for this year's conference, are eligible to serve. The deadline to volunteer is 1 February 2022. Volunteer now!

APPLY FOR GUEST SPEAKER FUNDS

To foster interdisciplinarity, the AMS invites applications from AMS committees and study groups to sponsor guest speakers from outside the field to participate in their Annual Meeting sessions. Applications are due 17 January 2022. Apply now!

DEC 20: JAMS EDITORIAL ASSISTANT APPLICATIONS

The AMS seeks an Editorial Assistant for JAMS. The ideal candidate will be a graduate student in musicology with strong organizational skills. Apply by 20 December 2021.

JAN 18: EARLY MUSIC PROGRAM FUND APPS

The AMS is calling for applications for the Early Music Program Fund, which supports programming for music before c.1600. AMS chapters, study groups, and committees are invited to apply by 18 January 2022.

DEC 31: JUDD FUND $50K MATCHING GIFT CALL

Please consider making a gift to the Robert F. Judd Fund to provide crucial support for the AMS and its operations. Every dollar donated by 31 December is matched, up to $50,000.

DEC 31: VOTE ON AMS BY-LAWS CHANGES

AMS members are urged to vote now on proposed amendments to the AMS By-Laws. Visit the AMS website for a full list of the proposed amendments. Voting ends at 11:59pm EST on 31 December 2021.

JAN 18: AMS PUBLIC LECTURES

The AMS is calling for proposals for joint lectures with the Library of Congress and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Lecture proposals should be based on original research and aimed at a wider public. Proposals are due 18 January 2022.

SEM & SMT ANNUAL MEETING NEWS

SEM TRAVEL AWARDS

The Society for Ethno-musicology (SEM) is offering several travel awards for the 2022 Annual Meeting. The deadline to apply is 15 July 2022.

SMT STUDENT PRESENTATION AWARD

The Society for Music Theory (SMT) annually gives the Student Presentation Award to a music student for a scholarly presentation at the Annual Meeting.

SMT SUBVENTIONS

The SMT Annual Meeting Grants Subcommittee considers special funding requests from standing committees, interest groups, and individual SMT members.

PEER LEARNING PROGRAM

SMT Peer Learning Program workshops are three-hour seminars led by prominent scholars intended to encourage "thinking together."

GRADUATE STUDENT WORKSHOP PROGRAM

The SMT Graduate Student Workshop Program emphasizes instruction, participation, and discussion among graduate students.

SMT TRAVEL GRANTS
