|
Our goal this year is 100% participation from all AMS families. We will be publishing the participation levels each week in the Bulletin. As of today, the participation levels are as follows:
Updates:
8th Grade Takes the Lead!
8th - 66%
Pony - 63%
4th - 60%
1st - 58%
5th - 57%
3rd - 56%
Kinder & 6th - 54%
7th - 51%
2nd - 51%
The Fiscal Year closes
June 30th!
School-wide participation in the Annual Giving Campaign is a testament to the community's strong commitment to the mission of the school and to the goals of a Catholic education. Achieving 100% participation builds community, identifies solidarity, and often inspires significant additional gifts. All Annual Giving Campaign gifts, large or small, make a collective impact, which benefits each and every student. Please contribute today to get us to 100%.
Thank you for all your support of AMS!

Tips for Cyber Safety in the Home
|
As we get ready to head into summer, here are some best practices and strategies to consider using with your children with their screen times, devices and social media.
Parental Controls
- Most networks, Internet providers, and software packages offer parental controls in their bundles. It is an easy way for parents to establish boundaries for the family and household on what is allowed and safe on the computer.
Watch Your History
- User histories are an area that may leave a family or shared computer vulnerable to innocent eyes or ears. Get in the habit of clearing your user history after each use, helping make it more difficult for the youngest users to see more adult content.
In Person Rule - Talk to your child about the "In Person" rule. Don't ever text, snap or chat something you would be embarrassed to say in person. Remind them to never communicate something they would be embarrassed to have Msgr Barry see or hear!
The Internet is forever - Remind your students that the choices and decisions they make with their devices are not private. Use behaviors that assume that everyone can (and will) see exactly the words they chose, the pictures they snap and sentiments they mean.
Enjoy the moment - Phones are good for staying connected to what's going on away from you, but they can distract from what's going on in front of you. Enjoy the moment! Don't wish you were somewhere else. Enjoy where you are and what you are doing.
Limit Screen Time
- Establish with your children time when they are not to use the computer. For instance, do not allow computer or device use after a certain time.
Bed Time And Computer Use
- Don't let your student sleep with their device. Make youngsters charge their computer or device in a common room, not in their bedroom. It removes the temptation from easy access, and helps insure a good night's rest, free of distraction.
Establish A Plan
- Decide very early with family members what the household rules are for computer use: when it may be used, what content is allowed, duration of use, etc. It helps establish at an early age the family expectations.
Trust But Verify
- Once parental controls are set and household rules established, parents ought to periodically check computer use to verify that family members are following protocols.
