Hello September!!
August started off with some pretty hot weather and our campus will continue to be on fire in terms of establishing a culture of excellence. Our theme this year is “Tiger Pride: There’s Strength in Every Stride” and we are focused on our P.A.C.E. at AMSA. Last month our scholars completed testing, we held a few assemblies, and we enjoyed games and fun at one of many Peter Piper Pizza Nights! What a way to start the school year!! We have no intentions of slowing down either. Be on the lookout for information on our next PAC Meeting, our first PTO Meeting and another event to have families on campus. I can’t think of anything better right now than being an AMSA Tiger… well, maybe cooler weather! Check out the rest of the newsletter with highlights and important information as we plan to have a Super September!!

At the end of August, AMSA scholars took their first iReady Diagnostic test for Reading and Math. This test provides us with beginning of the year academic data for each scholar. Because it is schedule for the beginning of the year, it is not uncommon for scholars to not attain scores that are equivalent to their respected grade level.
The data is used by all educators on our campus to determine the best ways to get all scholars caught up. iReady also has a personalized academic path for each scholar, based on their results. During our G.A.M.E (Goals Are My Everything) intervention period, scholars will get opportunities to work on assignments on their “Path” and to work in small groups with their teacher or interventionist. As the 2nd and 3rd iReady Diagnostics come along, we start seeing growth in all scholars.

Lastly, 3rd – 8th graders will soon be taking their first Benchmark Assessment. The testing window for this assessment starts on September 25 through the 4th of October. This Assessment prepares our students for the Spring AASA assessment. Schedule of tests (reading, math, science and writing) will be communicated to you soon.

We would like to highlight 1st grade Scott C. Scott loves Reading and Math. He also enjoys doing Science experiments. He completes all of his classwork and helps others in the classroom when he is done. Scott is a role model scholar in Ms. Domville’s class. He always listens and follows directions. Scott loves 1st grade! Scott’s favorite color is orange. Scott says lunch and recess are his favorites as well. It is our pleasure to present Scott with the Scholar of the month award.

We would like to highlight 4th grade Aaric E. Aaric enjoys coming to the Academy of Math and Science. His favorite subject is Math. Aaric’s teachers state he is always willing to lend a helping hand. Aaric is polite and respectful in the classroom and at recess. Aaric’s favorite color is blue, and he loves swimming. On his free time he loves playing video games (Fortnite) and playing with his little sister. This month we celebrate you, Aaric! Keep up the good work!

We would like to highlight 7th grader Jacob R. On a daily basis you can observe Jacob with a Positive attitude. Without being asked, Jacob is always jumping into situations where he is helping the good of the order (holding doors open for scholars to enter in the morning, assisting substitute teachers, organizing Chromebook carts, etc.). Jacob also holds himself Accountable for his classroom behavior and academics, making the most of his Education.
"Whenever I need help with anything, Jacob is always one of my “go to” scholars and I know that he will never refuse. Thank you, Jacob!"

¡¡Hola septiembre!!
Agosto comenzó con un clima bastante caluroso y nuestro campus seguirá brillando en términos de establecer una cultura de excelencia. Nuestro tema este año es "Orgullo del tigre: hay fuerza en cada paso" y estamos enfocados en nuestro P.A.C.E. en AMSA. ¡El mes pasado nuestros estudiantes completaron las pruebas, celebramos algunas asambleas y disfrutamos de juegos y diversión en una de las muchas Peter Piper Pizza Nights! ¡¡Qué manera de empezar el año escolar!! Tampoco tenemos intenciones de frenar el ritmo. Esté atento a información sobre nuestra próxima reunión de PAC, nuestra primera reunión de PTO y otro evento para tener familias en el campus. No puedo pensar en nada mejor en este momento que ser un Tigre de AMSA... bueno, ¡tal vez un clima más fresco! ¡Consulte el resto del boletín con aspectos destacados e información importante ya que planeamos tener un Súper Septiembre!

A finales de agosto, los estudiantes de AMSA tomaron su primera prueba de diagnóstico iReady para lectura y matemáticas. Esta prueba nos proporciona datos académicos de inicio de año para cada estudiante. Debido a que está programado para principios de año, no es raro que los estudiantes no obtengan puntajes equivalentes a su nivel de grado respetado.
Todos los educadores de nuestro campus utilizan los datos para determinar las mejores formas de poner al día a todos los estudiantes. iReady también cuenta con un itinerario académico personalizado para cada estudiante, en función de sus resultados. Durante nuestro período de intervención G.A.M.E (Los objetivos son mi todo), los estudiantes tendrán oportunidades de trabajar en tareas en su "Camino" y de trabajar en grupos pequeños con su maestro o intervencionista. A medida que avanzan el segundo y tercer diagnóstico de iReady, comenzamos a ver un crecimiento en todos los estudiantes.

Nos gustaría destacar a Jacob R, estudiante de séptimo grado. Diariamente puedes observar a Jacob con una actitud positiva. Sin que se lo pidan, Jacob siempre se mete en situaciones en las que está ayudando al bien de la orden (manteniendo las puertas abiertas para que los estudiantes entren por la mañana, ayudando a los maestros sustitutos, organizando carritos de Chromebook, etc.). Jacob también se responsabiliza de su comportamiento académico y en la clase, aprovechando al máximo su educación.
