and our awesome board are doing just that. There have been some great strides happening right here in Texas! We now have many Regions and still trying to grow more. Let me see – North Houston, North Austin, Heart of Texas, Brownwood, and our leaders of the Regions – El Paso. We are working on more Regions – possible Panhandle, Corpus Christi, East Texas, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio and?? Maybe your area is next! This is the best way to keep “Community over Competition”. Remember we are here for each other. The only way to grow is together! Keep reading to learn more about what has been going on in the Regions.
Many of you have seen in Facebook some sneak peeks of our 2023 State Convention. If all contracts go well (cross your fingers – the gals have been working so very hard to make this happen) the Texas Chapter 2023 State Convention may be in EL PASO Texas!! I’m so excited but I can’t say too much more. Official announcements will come out as soon as we know. Great plans are happening and I can’t wait to share. We will have great instructors, awesome food and of course a homerun of fun! That is all I can say. Keep watching the Newsletters and emails for more information.

At the National Convention, I was pinned as the new president of the Texas Chapter. It was exciting and I felt such responsibility and pride. As promised, I will do everything I can with the help of our awesome board to make Texas the Best Chapter in all of AMTA. There are times when I can use your help too. Just give us a shout out if you can to get involved. No this is not the overwhelming help – this is the guidance help for your Region. I do appreciate all that you do (in the various roles you have) for the Massage Profession now, the future of Massage and the future of the Texas Chapter AMTA. Reach out to one of us with your ideas, time and commitment. Just Commit – then we will figure it out together!
Thank you!!!!!
Brenda Padilla – your Texas Chapter President

Also, if any of our members took photos, please share them with Sherry Scott or Michelle Burns.

AN OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
AMTA massage therapists have an opportunity to offer massage
at the San Antonio Music Marathon.
Therapist would be providing massage working with the Texas Sports Chiropractors group. The event is Sunday, December 4th. The marathon starts at 7 AM. A covered area in the VIP complex for people to set up and do 10 minute post-event massages. Runners will be coming from all over Texas and the coordinators attempt o match up practitioners for their city with a runner from their city (if you are coming from Houston, they will try to match you with a runner from Houston), so they would love to have therapists from all over Texas. Afterwards, a list of participants is sent to the therapist so you can follow up. You would need to bring a table, business cards, cleaning supplies, a massage lubricant and maybe a small table for a tip jar, etc.
For additional information, please contact David Falknor at nwhoustonregion.amtatx@gmail.com

2022 National Conference First Timers
More than we expected!
Jackie and I (other Jackye) had the opportunity to attend our first national AMTA conference. We are 3 year members and use their insurance and the affordable CE’s. We honestly had no idea what to expect. The conference was in Cleveland which by the way is a cool place. We arrived our first day to pick up our name badges and itineraries, then get ready for the opening session with our national president and the keynote speaker, who just so happened to be Michael Phelps. The session was absolutely wonderful and inspirational.
We then adjourned to await the opening of vendor hall, we were so gobsmacked by the sheer number of vendors. Schools, supplies, and so many other things, such as demonstrations by pioneers of our industry. You were able to be worked on, play with the items that were being offered. Refreshments were readily available at any time.
Right after lunch you had the opportunity to take classes by more instructors who are at the pinnacle of their career and have written books new LMT’s use in school, the amount of courses in various subjects made it hard to choose. Day 2 was more courses and walking back through vendor hall to discover the things you had missed the first day.
We were able to visit with our Texas Chapter the whole time at lunches and dinners and other events coordinated by the Board. Having the chance to meet and interact with peers and make life long friendships was absolutely soul changing. We are already looking forward to the State Conference next year to see our friends.

What an honor it has been to be elected as a delegate and I am proud to represent our state chapter. I attended the national convention in August, to say the experience was phenomenal is an understatement. I was immediately welcomed with open arms and placed at a table with other fellow delegates where we discussed several topics. Additionally, I learned more about the delegate position and role. What a joy it was to interact and trade pins with other state chapters. The conversations and experience were wholesome and gave me inspiration needed to not only be a delegate but also as a massage therapist.

Delegate Michaelle Fisher |
I was honored to sit in at the Assembly of Delegates meeting for our delegate, Jackye Crumbly, who was unable to attend. The meeting was energetic with lots of idea exchange. Emphasis was on the job of the delegate during the year as well as at Assembly of Delegates. There were no position statements to vote on this year so it really turned out to be a training for delegates. They are encouraged to be the face of the chapter and a touch point for membership. And especially offer assistance to anyone wanting to create a position statement to be presented at a future Assembly of Delegates.
It was a joy to watch our junior delegate, Carolyn Speer, shine and fit right in with the proceedings. She is going to be such an asset to our Texas Chapter. I can see her representing us at the National level.
Michaelle Fisher, Board Member & Delegate
