2020 AMTA National Election Results
AMTA is happy to announce that 95.2% of Professional Members voting in the AMTA National Board Election approved the slate of new board directors to take office on March 1, 2021. 

The elected board members will be:
  • Cindy Farrar (GA)
  • Bob Jantsch (PA)
  • Kimberly Kane-Santos (PA)
  • Patricia (Patty) Phillips (WA)
  • LaDonna Ward (AL)

They will join five continuing Board Directors:
  • Christine Bailor-Goodlander (NY)

  • Jane Horton Johnson (GA)
  • Scott Raymond (CT)

On March 1, 2021, President-Elect Steve Albertson (IL) will become AMTA President.

Massage Therapy for Military Veterans
Military veterans can face a host of health concerns upon returning from service, from chronic pain related to physical injuries, to emotional and psychological issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). A recent consumer study sponsored by AMTA indicates that 67 percent of individuals surveyed claim the primary reason for receiving their last massage in the previous 12 months was medical (41 percent) or stress (26 percent) related.

If you are unable to renew online, please email ([email protected]) the Department of Safety and Professional Services at least 15 business days prior to the expiration date of your license/credential to request a renewal form be mailed or e-mailed to you.

CPR/AED WI License Requirements

The Department of Safety and Professional Services is accepting **ONLINE ONLY** CPR certifications this year. Approved providers in this article are pulled from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services Website.

The Following are DHS Approved CPR and AED Providers:
  • American Heart Association 
  • American Red Cross 
  • American Safety and Health Institute (includes Medic First Aid)
  • Emergency Care and Safety Institute - (AAOS) 
  • Emergency University - (CPR Pro Course)
  • EMS Safety Services
  • National Safety Council
  • ProTrainings, LLC
  • T-E-A-M CPR and AED

Any course offered by the above providers that includes the following is approved by this department to fulfill the cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) training objectives for persons who are required, as a condition of licensure, certification, or registration to be proficient in CPR or in the use of an AED. 

  • Instruction of CPR
  • Instruction in the use of an AED
  • Verified course completion through a certification/completion card
  • Certification not to exceed two years
Massage Therapy and Bodywork Therapy
Affiliated Credentialing Board

Our Chapter asked the Credentialing Board to consider easing burdens on Massage therapists for the upcoming renewal in February 2021. Unfortunately, the board doesn't have the authority to reduce or waive renewal fees. 

It does have the authority to waive continuing education requirements on an individual basis. 

If you are unable to complete your continuing education requirements because of special circumstances or hardship, you may request a waiver from the Credentialing Board.
