We know that AMWA members are amazing at pooling resources and creating wonderful ways to give back to our communities. AMWA Mental Health Advocacy Award - Mental health and wellness has been difficult to maintain through a global pandemic, but our members know the importance of self-care and advocating for mental health awareness in our communities. This journal aims to celebrate our creative spirit and work to connect the arts and humanities in medicine. All who have witnessed the potential of the arts in medicine are welcomed to submit (research, personal essays, music, visual arts, & more are acceptable). Mental Health in Premedical Students — Participate in the Study!
A team of researchers at Arizona State University are examining mental health in premedical students in order to improve student experiences in undergraduate sciences. Participation entails a 45–60-minute online interview. You will receive a $20 Amazon gift card for your time. Must be 18 years or older and not yet accepted to medical school.

Leader Highlight
Varshini Vakulabharanam, Region 3 Director
Varshini Vakulabharanam is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Houston, majoring in Public Health with a minor in Biology. As an aspiring medical student, her goals and vision serve as her motivation in joining AMWA to be at the forefront of medicine. Varshini is very passionate about women's healthcare and has taken part in numerous health camps and seminars in order to empower women. She aspires to become a physician in the future.
In her spare time, she loves dancing, drawing, and watching movies. A piece of advice she would give to young women is to “don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone because you never know what opportunity awaits you.” She strongly believes that learning is a lifelong journey!
