Dear Fellow Laborers in the Gospel,
I want to bring you up to date on an urgent matter.
The National Portrait Gallery responded to our
August 7 letter this week, "respectfully" declining "to remove Margaret Sanger's bust (sic)" from its "Struggle for Justice" exhibit. The letter was signed by ten black ministers who are STAND state leaders and active in Ministers Taking A Stand.
Last week,
CNS News'
exclusive report on the letter quickly went "viral," and was shared on Facebook and Twitter close to 60,000 times.
The story later ran on The Blaze and was shared on social media an additional 30,000 times. The
online petition that we launched in conjunction with the letter is still gaining signatures. and to date, has garnered close to 11,000 signatures. Extensive national media coverage and the large response to our petition, prompted the
letter from National Portrait Gallery director, Kim Sajet.
Yesterday, Brent Bozell of the Media Research Center (MRC) asked me to consider a joint STAND/MRC press conference featuring the black ministers who signed the letter that brought the issue of Sanger's veneration by the Gallery to the fore, and showcases the actual signed petitions we will be delivering to the Gallery.
The press conference is scheduled for Thursday August 27 at 10:00 AM in front of the National Portrait Gallery located at 800 F. St. NW in Washington, DC.
It is imperative that as many ministers and members of their churches as possible attend the press conference. A strong showing will demonstrate the strong and growing opposition in the Church and black community to taxpayer dollars being spent on veneration of someone who regarded blacks as "human weeds" to be eradicated. An added benefit will be raising public awareness of Margaret Sanger's continuing Eugenic legacy in Planned Parenthood, the organization she founded, which locates 70% of its elective abortion facilities within walking distance of minority communities, and trafficks in the sale of aborted black baby body parts.
