ANAC joins request for increased support for Global Fund in FY23 budget proposal
ANAC joined 44 other organizations in calling for increased US support for the Global Fund in order to regain momentum against the AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria epidemics and secure stronger pandemic preparedness and response against future disease threats.

JANAC paper receives global attention
A paper published earlier this year in JANAC, "Improved Diet and Exercise Needed to Lower Cardiovascular Risks in Older Ugandans with HIV," received attention in the publishing world through a media release and wide dissemination.

ANAC releases commentary on NINR framework
The ANAC research committee and other members have provided commentary to the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) on its proposed strategic plan framework for 2022.

International Nursing Network for HIV Research (The Network) launches Study VIII
The Network has launched Study VIII to understand the effects of COVID-19 on people living with HIV. The next meeting will be Jan. 14-15. Interested researchers are invited to register and attend, virtually or in-person at UCLA. Group rate hotel registration closes Dec. 31.

RWHAP releases letter encouraging gender-affirming care
The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) released a letter encouraging providers to leverage the existing RWHAP infrastructure to provide access to gender-affirming care and treatment services to transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals with HIV. This is an important step in providing culturally affirming health care and social services to the transgender community as a key component to improving the lives of transgender people with HIV and eliminating health disparities.

ANAC releases commentary on draft NAHS
Members of ANAC's policy committee provided commentary on the updated National HIV AIDS Strategy 2022-2025 (NHAS) and the Plan to End the HIV Epidemic, with an emphasis on how nurses and other members of the healthcare team contribute to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

JANAC is accepting applications for a one-year Editorial Internship mentoring program. The application deadline has been extended until Jan. 7.
ANAC Member News
Natalie LeBlanc PhD, MPH, RN, announces a call for papers for a special issue in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health entitled: "Optimizing Sexual Health and Wellness: The Role of Interpersonal Relationships and Communication". She is the guest editor. The deadline for submission is April 30.

Donna Sabatino, RN, ACRN, published an article in the National Institute for Policy Access blog titled “What will it take to end HIV." The article highlights policy and other challenges to equal access to HIV treatment and prevention.

Loretta Winde, RN, BSN, ACRN is congratulated by members of the HIV/AIDS Certification Board as the Patrick Kenney Certified Nurse of the Year, having achieved ACRN recognition in 2003 and maintaining it since. Her work and commitment to home, palliative and hospice care is respected and valued.

Peter Oates, RN, MSN, ACRN received the “Star Supporter Award” from the African American Office of Gay Concerns in Newark, NJ at their 13th annual conference, Mascara XIII, held on the International Transgender Day of Remembrance.
