Newest chapter-in-formation
ANAC is pleased to announce the newest chapter-in-formation at the Bel-Air College of Nursing in Panchgani, India, southeast of Mumbai. 

This chapter was organized by Sr. Lourdu Mary Nagothu, ANAC's 2017 Global Nursing Award winner. ANAC Chicago members Norma Rolfsen and Linda McCreary attended the inaugural nursing conference hosted by the new ANAC India chapter.

Early bird registration is now open for ANAC2018 in Denver, Nov. 8-10. Learn more and register.

Plan to come early for pre-conference activities on Wednesday, Nov. 7. The day will include research workshops, Buprenorphine waiver training and other exciting onsite workshops and sessions. 

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

A well-trained behavioral health workforce is key to addressing the opioid crisis - a public health emergency. HRSA's Bureau of Workforce manages programs to train nursing and behavioral health providers. Learn more about HRSA's  education and training programs in behavioral health , nursing  and public health . And plan to attend the ANAC pre-conference in Denver on November 7, 2018 for education, training and accreditation for Buprenorphine nurse prescribers.

ANAC to host pre-conference session at International AIDS Conference
Enhancing Nursing Workforce Capacity to Achieve HIV Epidemic Control and Positive Health Outcomes  is free to registered AIDS 2018 attendees and will feature keynote speaker Dr. Sheila D. Tlou. More information.

PEPFAR celebrates 15 years
More than 13 million lives have been saved since the beginning of PEPFAR and it has brought us closer to ending AIDS. ANAC salutes America's presidential and congressional leadership for this bold humanitarian initiative.  

Nursing workforce in fighting the global HIV epidemic
ANAC joined healthcare leaders, researchers and advocates in Geneva, Switzerland to discuss progress and challenges in turning the tide on the global HIV epidemic at the Controlling the HIV Epidemic Summit, convened by IAPAC and WHO. The summit addressed data-driven metrics of success, remaining challenges and the HIV workforce needed to achieve 90-90-90. ANAC's Carole Treston addressed the summit, calling for greater investments in nursing education, nurse-led models of care and workplace conditions across the globe.

Webinar: The Role of PrEP in Ending the HIV/AIDS Epidemic among Women

This webinar will provide community-based and health department staff with an understanding of PrEP and how it can impact the HIV epidemic for women. Participants will learn about the epidemiology of HIV and women, the benefits, efficacy and side effects of PrEP, indications for PrEP uptake, and strategies for PrEP implementation. Register

The Johnson & Johnson/AACN Minority Nurse Faculty Scholars program provides financial support to graduate nursing students from minority backgrounds who agree to teach in a school of nursing after graduation. Applications are due May 31, 2018. More information.

National Institute of Nursing Research announces funding opportunity
This funding opportunity is for administrative supplements to support interdisciplinary scientific collaborations between Centers for AIDS Research (CFARs) and nursing schools and research organizations supporting nursing research. Applications are due June 18, 2018. More information.


New publisher announced
ANAC announces that Wolters Kluwer has been selected as the new publisher for JANAC beginning in January 2019. We are excited about the benefits that will be offered by our new publisher, including continuing education credits for some JANAC articles and alliances with a large number of other nursing and health-focused journals.
