Today marks the 34th anniversary of World AIDS Day, the international day dedicated to raising awareness of the HIV/AIDS pandemic and mourning those who have died of the disease. We each have a unique way to pay tribute on this day to a friend, partner, family member or patient. Holding on to their memory is a blessing by remembering what they brought into our lives.
It's also a day to renew our dedication to those living with HIV and prevent new HIV infections. More than ever, it's important to raise awareness and take action on the social, economic, racial and geographic inequities that limit optimal HIV prevention and treatment options and outcomes. These issues are larger than HIV/AIDS, yet are central to full health equity and outcomes for people living with HIV.
