Welcome to the ANE District's new publication called "Know Your Neighbor"! This publication is designed to give you some intimate information about the many churches within our large district. It is intended to be a fun way of sharing a part of their story as we all are called to continue the work of Jesus. Enjoy!

Get to Know Us!
What is your congregation most passionate about?

A: Our congregation is passionate about following Jesus by reaching out to our neighbors in need.
What ministry excites you most?

A: We enjoy working together to create Clean-Up buckets for Disaster Relief, School Kits, and projects to support Brethren Housing Association. Our congregation loves to support our youth whether they are serving at the Lybrook Mission in NM or walking for COBYS Bike & Hike. We are excited about new ministries with our local elementary school such as the Power Packs project.
How would you describe your congregation?

A: Hospitable, friendly, accepting.
If you were not in your community, what would be missing?

A: A hub for community engagement and Brethren worship. Our building is heavily used by our community.  A community Lawn Concert series has been held at our church for many years. We love being in partnership with our sisters and brothers of Un Nuevo Renacer Fellowship who meet in our building.
What are your congregation's five favorite hymns or choruses?

A: *Praise God From Whom*Blessed Assurance*Move In Our Midst*In The Bulb Is A Flower*Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee
What do people say they like best about your church?

A: People genuinely care about the least, the lost and the last. We try to care for each other with an active card ministry and visits. We keep our eyes open for needs in our community and faithful ways of responding.
If someone was to ask you to tell them about your congregation's vision for ministry, what would you tell them?

A:  Our Vision: Fostering growth in faith, growth in community, and growth in service.
What mission efforts has your congregation been involved in recently?

A: We share our building with Un Nuevo Renacer Fellowship and enjoy supporting one another. Sharing Love Feast together is a highlight for us.
Share a Fun Fact about your church:

A: Our youth host a Dessert Auction each winter to raise money for their work camps, National Youth Conference, and other activities. We don't mean to be prideful, but we have seriously fabulous bakers in our congregation-starting with the youth. The congregation is so supportive. The youth raise a ton of money every year...and then we hit the gym!!!
Describe your youth and young adult ministries:

A: We have a core group of youth who meet about monthly for study, service or fun, in addition to Sunday School. Every summer the youth attend a work camp, except for NYC years. Two of our youth are on the District Youth Cabinet and two have enjoyed attending the Immerse Bible experience sponsored by Bethany Theological Seminary.
Our young adults are involved in various ministries at church--from running the sound booth to giving leadership to the nursery to serving at the coordinator for our puppet ministry. We're starting a new community outreach program in the fall called "Tots & Tunes", a music & activity time for parents and young children.
What is the title of a book or video series that your congregation has recently used and would suggest to other congregations/small groups?

A: Understanding Racism by Steve & Kathy Reid and various Bible series by Adam Hamilton. We've enjoyed learning about Brethren Mission in China with Jeff Bach from the Young Center for Anabaptist and Pietist Studies and social justice issues with David Radcliff of the New Community Project. Most of the year, we pick books or themes of the Bible and study them.
What is a favorite or well loved food at your congregational meal events? Is there a special recipe that you can share for this food?

A: The beef rice soup at Love Feast is much loved.
What is your congregation's favorite annual event?

A: Christmas Eve candlelight service, Palm Sunday and Easter worships, Youth Sunday and Youth Dessert Auction.
In what way has ANE assisted your church?

A: Last year, we appreciated the District's help in forming our partnership with Un Nuevo Renacer Fellowship. Thanks, Don Mitchell!
