Surgiendo de las dificultades y tragedias inimaginables, la cantante y compositora de talento divino Ángela Álvarez, ha sido incansable en la búsqueda de sus sueños musicales, superando innumerables obstáculos en un viaje increíble que recientemente la llevó a hacer historia como una de las artistas de mayor edad nominada en la prestigiosa Categoría "Mejor Nuevo Artista" de los Latin Grammys a los 95 años.
Al crecer en Cuba, Álvarez se sintió impulsada a convertirse en cantante y compositora desde que era una niña. A través de todo el dolor y el sufrimiento que experimentó en el transcurso de sus más de nueve décadas en la Tierra, incluido el máximo sacrificio al enviar a sus hijos a otro país para que pudieran tener una vida mejor, emigrar a los Estados Unidos y experimentar ante la muerte prematura de su esposo y su hija a causa del cáncer, se quedó llena de canto, y la voz apremiante que residía dentro de ella seguía haciéndose cada vez más fuerte, exigiendo algún día ser escuchada.

Con el lanzamiento de su primer álbum, Ángela llamó la atención de los cineastas Paul Toogood y Lloyd Stanton, quienes continuaron destacando su extraordinaria vida con un impresionante documental titulado “Miss Angela” narrado por el legendario actor Andy García. García luego se unió al escenario con ella en el histórico teatro Avalon en Los Ángeles.
A principios de este año, apareció nuevamente junto a la famosa estrella en “Father of the Bride” de HBO, interpretando el papel de Tia Pili y brindando una poderosa interpretación del icónico bolero “Quiéreme Mucho”.

Rising from the depths of unimaginable hardship and tragedy, divinely talented singer and songwriter Ángela Álvarezhas been fearless in the pursuit of her musical dreams, overcoming countless obstacles on an incredible journey that recently led her to make history as the oldest artist nominated in the prestigious Best New Artist category of the Latin Grammys at the age of 95.
Growing up in Cuba, Álvarez was driven to become a singer and songwriter from the time she was a young child. Through all of the pain and suffering that came her way over the course of her nine plus decades on Earth, including making the ultimate sacrifice by sending her children to another country so they could have a better life, immigrating to the United States, and experiencing the premature deaths of her husband and daughter due to cancer, she remained filled with song, and the compelling voice that resided within her continued to grow ever stronger, demanding to one day be heard.
It was her grandson, cinematic composer Carlos José Alvarez, who finally helped Ángela share one of her most cherished yet hidden treasures with the world. Inspired by his grandmother’s impactful story, he formed a team of world-class Grammy winning musicians to record her intimate songs that conveyed both the sorrow and the joy that she experienced in her life. The result was her acclaimed 2021 self-titled debut album, which led to her historic nomination this year to the 23rd Annual Latin Grammy Awards.
