APPNA is very proud that one of our own, Dr. Asif Rehman has been appointed as an Honorary Advisor to the President of Azad Kashmir.
Dr. Rehman originally hails from Azad Kashmir. He is a graduate of the Nishtar Medical College, Multan, class of 1987. He trained in Internal Medicine at the Nassau County Medical Center in New York and followed that with fellowship training in Cardiovascular Disease at the Winthrop University Hospital, NY. Subsequently, he completed his Interventional Cardiology fellowship training at the New England Medical Center, Tufts University, Boston, MA.
Dr. Rehman has an illustrious history of services to the Pakistani physician community in the USA. He is a lifetime member of APPNA and has served it in various capacities including as President 2014 and Chair BOT in 2021.
For his myriad services to the Pakistani community and the Kashmir cause, Dr. Rehman was awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the government of Pakistan in 2019.
APPNA family congratulates Dr. Asif Rehman on his appointment and hope that in his position as honorary advisor to the President of Azad Kashmir, he will continue to further the cause of the expatriate Pakistani and Kashmiri communities and also continue to highlight the dire humanitarian situation in the internationally recognized disputed region of Indian administered Kashmir.
