WHERE DID PILATES COME FROM?
The Pilates Method was born in the 1920s because of a young sickly boy (Joseph Pilates) who was determined to take charge of his own life's outcome by improving his health. Joseph Pilates studied gymnastics, boxing, weight-lifting, and even studied animals in the wild to see how they move with such flexibility, strength, and grace. He took the best elements out of each to create the perfect exercise methodology that incorporates strength, balance, stretching, and a mind-body connection. My favorite part about Joseph Pilates' story is that he realized he was the architect of his own happiness. He took something negative and turned it into something good and beautiful.
