Message from Mr. Mein
Apache Families,

As we head into Thanksgiving and the holiday season, I want to extend my most sincere gratitude for the welcome during this year through the transition in administration and for sharing your most precious gifts, your children, with the Antonian community. It has been a blessing to serve your students. On behalf of the Antonian faculty and staff, we wish you all a blessed and happy Thanksgiving.

John Mein, Interim Principal

Way to Go, Emma Sitterle!

Junior Emma Sitterle was invited by North Lake Charters of PEI (Prince Edward Island) Canada to attempt to break the Junior Women's World Record for bluefin tuna. This particular area is considered the capital of the world for bluefin tuna. The current record is 618 lbs.

Weather is always a factor at this time of the year and the fishing season can be called to an end at any time by the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO). Emma had to do all the work unassisted as per the IFGA rules: secure the rod, bring it over to the fighting chair, place it in the gunnel, and then attach the rod to herself with a harness. On October 22nd, in a little over one hour, she hooked, fought, and reeled in an estimated 109 inch long and 664 lb giant bluefin tuna -- an unofficial world record!!!

The Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans came to the boat, took the fish to be measured and GPS-tagged, and released it safely back to the ocean. Emma’s fish will now be a part of scientific research.

She received a formal catch certificate from IGFA and will hold this great experience in her heart forever. It was truly a great day to be an Apache!!!
