Parents,

Some medical professionals suggest a heart screening after a person has had COVID.
Consider discussing with your preferred
medical provider as you see fit.

AugustHeart, an organization that provides free heart screening for teenagers, is offering a FREE screening event on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at the Piper Bass Memorial Student Center. The screening will begin at 10:00 a.m.

AugustHeart's mission is to provide screening to help identify select heart abnormalities in an effort to reduce the risk of sudden cardiac death. They screen for the following heart conditions:
  • Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy
  • Dilated Cardiomyopathy
  • Aortic Root Aneurysm
  • Long QT Syndrome
  • Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) Syndrome

Screening Process:
  • A parental waiver must be signed for your teen to receive a heart screening.
  • Teens should wear loose-fitting clothing.
  • Screening includes an electrocardiogram (ECG) and, if needed, a limited 2-D echocardiogram (ECHO).
  • A cardiologist will be onsite so that results will be immediate.
  • The screening process typically takes approximately 15 minutes per student.

If you are interested in having your child(ren) screened, please register using the following link.
