Academics and Academic Counseling
First Quarter Deadline Approaching

Keep in mind that the end of the first quarter is quickly approaching and all work is due from students by Friday, October 16, 2020.

Please check the Acsender grade portal and have your student communicate with their teachers if there is a need.

It is not too late to get tutoring and academic support. Together we can end the semester strong!
Testing Information: PSAT/SAT
On October 14, 2020, Antonian will administer either the PSAT or SAT to all Antonian students. To maintain social distancing and capacity limitations, we will have a special testing schedule. No lunches will be available and students are encouraged to bring a snack and something to drink. Students should also bring at least two (2) #2 pencils. We will not be allowed to share or distribute pencils.
The SAT is used for college admission purposes, qualification for entrance into specific college programs, and for scholarships. Since many testing sites have cancelled their Saturday SAT administrations, it is very important for students to be on campus and prepared to do their best on October 14.

While many colleges are test optional, admission into specific programs may still require an SAT score to qualify. The PSAT is used at the campus level to qualify all students for entrance into dual credit level courses. Additionally, juniors have the opportunity to use the PSAT as a qualifying test for National Merit scholarships.

The PSAT 8-9 gives freshmen the opportunity to take a nationally standardized test under timed conditions and gives them a baseline score to develop skills required for success at the college level. All students will have access to their College Board accounts for test prep, college and career exploration, and scholarship opportunities.

Help Jack Find A Home
Last February, Theology teacher, Ms. Alban and her community of religious women adopted a puppy, but due to extenuating circumstances they need to find him a new home. If you are interested (or know of someone who might be) please share this information with them. Those who are interested are asked to submit their information by clicking the button above.

Stats:
Name: Jack
Age: 10 months
Breed: Jack Russell Terrier
Weight: 15 pounds
Height: 20" inches

He is house-trained and likes to always be around people. He is high energy, mischievous, friendly, and needs daily walks. When under stress, he eats/destroys any toy he finds. Due to some circumstances, we couldn't give him proper training to be less demanding and more independent, but with proper training he will succeed!
Service Hours

A total of 100 hours of service is required for graduation. Students will go through an orientation for the service hour component at the beginning of the school year. Hours completed in the summer 2020 will apply to the 2020-2021 school year.

Normally, each grade level will be assigned a particular focus area. Because of the challenges COVID-19 creates for participating in traditional forms of service, we are making a temporary change to this practice. Students from any grade level will be able to complete their service hours in any of the following three focus areas:

The Hungry and Homeless
The Sick, the Elderly, and the Disabled
Teaching the Disadvantaged

Standard Of The Month
Respect
This week we honor Antonian senior, Hunter Haynes. His submission was sent to us and we thank him for being a representation of what this standard means.

"Hunter is honored to be an Apache and so proud to wear the RED. Hunter has grown so much -- into a respectful young man who takes all responsibility for his work.

He enjoys helping others in need and motivates them along the way. He’s a true leader, as he seeks input from others to ensure they all have what it takes to be the best team ever."
Faculty Spotlight: Mrs. Valadez
Mrs. Valadez

As a Catholic School, we believe that the holistic formation of our students includes their faith and spiritual growth.

With this, at the forefront of what we do, we find that we must often look within to reflect those standards to which we uphold our students, too.

Such a teacher who does so is Theology teacher, Mrs. Patricia Valadez. With a successful accumulation of experience and guidance, Mrs. Valadez is known for her compassion and respect for others.

With a passion for helping others and as a breast cancer survivor, we thank Mrs. Valadez for shining her light through example.
