Answers: Parent Question Submissions

  • On what basis/to what extent will personal devices/computers be required for next year? Will students need it for schoolwork every day, or will it be optional?
  • Students will be issued an Antonian school-issued Chromebook for the 2021-2022 school year and asked to bring the device to school every day. The device should be fully charged and ready to use when needed. Device usage will vary by class.

Verification of Enrollment Forms (VOE)

On occasion throughout the summer, students need to obtain Verification of Enrollment (VOE) forms in order to pursue driver's licenses. In order to plan for an issuing Administrator to be able to offer this to a student in light of our reduced summer office hours (Monday - Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. | Closed on Friday), we have established a request link for students to use. An issuing Administrator will check this link daily (M-F) and will reach out to the student to schedule a time to pick up their form. The form CANNOT be issued electronically, i.e., through email, and the student MUST be present to sign the form.

Summer Reading: One School, One Theme -- “Restore, Reconnect, and Rebuild”

Purpose
Our goal is to build a community of readers which includes students, parents, teachers, and other school staff. We are personally asking you to make time in your summer schedule to participate in this special event where Antonian students and faculty members are encouraged to read at least one book with the theme to “Restore, Reconnect, and/or Rebuild.” The benefits of reading are remarkable, enriching literacy skills, and promoting life-long learning.

How It Works
Every student reads a book (or more than one book!) at home over the course of the summer within the theme. All are encouraged to read a book of their own choice but can be inspired by some of the books suggested by Antonian faculty and staff. Each month, students and faculty will have an opportunity to share their reading experience with the Antonian community by submitting a short book review that includes the book’s purpose and the connections made by completing this Google Form: https://forms.gle/7WTaddMk6ehMN67P7. All submissions will be eligible for a drawing when we return to school in August.

When we return to school in August, students should feel prepared to share their summer reading experience as we will engage in conversations connected to our ability to Restore, Reconnect, and Rebuild. It is important that students be able to discuss the books they chose to read with their teachers and peers. Finally, we ask for your help -- we ask that summer reading be a shared experience in your homes this summer and that you value the positive effects family literacy has on your son/daughter’s education. Please take the time to learn something new with your child this summer – read a book together and discuss what you have read.

You may read one of the following books or choose a book that is not shown on the list. Be sure to make connections with our theme of “Restore, Rebuild, and/or Reconnect”.
Obsolete Textbook List
No Longer Required
Please note that there are just a few textbooks from 2020-2021 that will not be used during the 2021-2022 school year.

For a list of these books, please click on the following link:
MBS Direct

Save The Date: Thursday, July 1, 2021

Antonian uses MBS Direct to provide information and purchasing options for textbooks used for Antonian courses. Textbooks via MBS Direct will be available online for purchase beginning Thursday, July 1, 2021. A link will be sent on Wednesday, June 30th, to access the MBS Direct website

Students are responsible for the purchase of their own textbooks. If a textbook is noted as "required," it is imperative that the student acquire the book and bring it as directed by the teacher.
Buy-Sell-Trade Facebook Group

Last year, we started a buy-sell-trade Facebook group for parents to exchange and sell their used textbooks with other Antonian families. We will be offering this service again. If you would like, click on the below link to request access to the group.

Please note -- sellers are responsible for their payments and trade agreements. Antonian strongly recommends waiting to purchase textbooks until Thursday, July 1, 2021, when the MBS Direct link goes live so that parents know which books to buy.
Uniform Information
Flynn O'Hara (Uniform Vendor) and Antonian Uniform Resale
Antonian will host our annual uniform resale on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, and Wednesday, June 23, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the Student Center. The proceeds of any items sold by Antonian go to the Campus Ministry department to help defray costs of the IHS and Kairos off-campus retreats, helping to keep these retreats as affordable as possible.

Please note, Antonian has contracted with Flynn O'Hara Uniforms to be the official uniforms for Antonian students. As such, Antonian expects students to wear only Flynn O'Hara products. The Administration has the discretion to make an exception for another uniform source, but such exceptions must be approved by the Dean of Students in writing before the student wearing a uniform item from another source. Final updates to the 2021-2022 dress and grooming code will be sent at a later date.
