WHAT IF... 2019
Our Club was pleased to be part of the What If Festival again this year. We had a perfect spot adjacent to the Pikes Peak Center. All the JOI club volunteers worked our two craft tables - helping children make pet toys for the Humane Society or helping them make Lady Bug bracelets for a donation to help "Paws It Forward", a nonprofit that assists Homeless Pet Owners. They interacted with over 300+ children and told them about the many activities of their JOI clubs.
Even DOT made an appearance!

Sand Creek Open house: Elise and Andrea represented our club well! They were able to get 6 students to sign up that night! The parents were pretty interested to hear that our club existed! They really encouraged their students to join!
Friday the 13th proved to bring good luck to our JOI Creekers! The Sand Creek JOI Club entered 4 chili’s into the chili cook off. Each chili was unique and delicious! They also provided shredded cheese and sour cream to top their chili, as well as cornbread to compliment their meals. Everyone that was sampling the chili’s voted on their favorites. One of ours was voted “most original”, and our club was awarded $75! Everyone worked so hard to make this celebration so very successful! We are so proud of all of our JOI kids who participated!

Following the cook-off, under a bright full moon, the Sand Creek Scorpions went on to win their Homecoming football game 21 - 6 over Cheyenne Mountain Indians! One of our JOI club members was on the winning football team, as well as on the Homecoming Court. JOI members also represented our club by participating in the band and color guard at the football game as well!
The first meeting of the year was on September 20th.
35 students were in the induction ceremony and some of their parents and siblings were in attendance.
The first project for this Club was painting "kindness" rocks for #719Rocks. The kids then hid these rocks in a nearby park for others to find & re-hide to keep the kindness going!
On September 26 th , Allies Elementary School held its second JOI Club induction ceremony! On hand to conduct the ceremony were Elise Clark (JOI District Governor from Sand Creek High School), and Makenna Weiner (JOI District Governor-Elect from Vista Ridge High School). Club members in attendance were Donna Priester (JOI League Commissioner), Sam Bartley (Allies JOI Team Captain) and Billie Nigro (Allies JOI Team member).   44 fourth and fifth graders   took the oath and received their membership cards and pins.
Allies first project will be a food and funds drive to support Fresh Start Center ( ), a local food back located off east Woodmen Road. The director of Fresh Start Center will be a guest speaker at their meeting next week. The kids are very eager to get started!
This was the Club's 3rd year organizing a school-wide "Week of Kindness". It is so well received, that more & more students & staff get involved every year!
  • School District 11 is eager to get started on Tri-Star Basketball for 2019-2020. Bob Null, who has chaired this program in the past, is stepping down and the position is open. Please let me know if you’d like to jump into this slam-dunk opportunity! Bob is even available to help get you started!
