Don’t forget to call your State Assemblymember and ask them to sign on as a co-sponsor of the Universal Child Care Act! It’s time to invest in the future of New York families.

Use the script below or reach out to New York Policy Director, Steven Morales at [email protected] with any questions!

  • Hello, my name is ______ and I am the owner of a family child care program in your district. I urge the Assembly Member to co-sponsor the Universal Child Care Act (A.8623) to support family child care programs like mine and the children we serve. Thank you.

New York City Budget Update

In addition to the New York State budget (where we are fighting for $5 billion for child care!), New York City has its own separate budget. The New York City budget is decided on by the Mayor and the City Council every year. The City budget process is another opportunity to tell elected officials that they need to invest in child care! Last week, the Mayor introduced his budget plans, which did not propose any new funds for child care or pre-k and includes tax credits for businesses to provide child care on-site. We know that is not enough for FCC educators! You can see a full summary of the Mayor’s budget plans here.

Stay tuned for opportunities to tell the Mayor and the City Council that family child care needs to be a priority in our City budget!
