APIC NEws
A message from our chapter President
Welcome 2022! Let’s hope we can come together as a group this year to celebrate our successes! HUGE round of applause for all you have done and continue to do for your patients, staff and community!
The Board of Directors has been working to bring you virtual educational sessions over these past 2 years with the hope we will resume the live, in-person conferences someday. I am thrilled to say that day is coming; April 28th in Springfield.

As we say goodbye to 2021, we want to thank Michelle Hanley for her service as secretary and welcome Janet Bertolino to the role! Our BOD has some new faces and new ideas. Please share your ideas, too.
Also, APIC turns 50 this year! We have some fun activities planned to celebrate including some great speakers, games, and prizes, and we are planning to give away a trip to APIC national in June--watch your email!

In June 2021, the APIC Board of Directors updated the association’s vision and mission to better reflect the post-COVID-19 reality that infection prevention is a necessity not just in hospitals and clinics, but in schools, gyms, airports, movie sets, hotels, grocery stores, office buildings, and more.

Vision: A safer world through the prevention of infection
Mission: To advance the science and practice of infection prevention and control

Best wishes for a safe and healthy 2022.

Sincerely,
Ginny Caples, RN, MHA, CIC, CNOR

Shirley Bradley Memorial Innovation Award
Each year, our chapter honors one of our founders, Shirley Bradley, by awarding the innovation of our members in her name. Chapter members are encouraged to submit work they have done towards improvements in infection prevention. Board members vote and the winners are selected to present their work at a chapter conference.

If you have a project--large or small--that you would like to share, complete the application here. Winners will present at the Fall conference. The deadline for submission is 8/31/22.
