Congratulations to APOMA Academic Board member Alexis Vogt (MCC) on her Induction into the National Women's Hall of Fame as a 2018 "Keeper of the Flame"!

On December 17, 2018, Monroe Community College Endowed Chair and Associate Professor of Optics Alexis Vogt was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame at the annual "Keeper of the Flame" Ceremony. Centuries ago, keeping the flame alive meant the difference between life and death - fire represented life, and only the most trustworthy could be trusted to keep it alight.

Today, the keepers of the flame are courageous, trustworthy and brave individuals who continue the quest for equality, fairness and rights for women by keeping the flame alive and fanning it so that it may grow. At the ceremony, each honoree is handed a symbolic flame to symbolize their work and inspiration to others.

APOMA is honored to have Alexis as a Board member, partner and inspiration to women in optics. Congratulations, Alexis!
