CALL FOR PRESENTERS / SPONSORS
109th APP ANNUAL CONFERENCE
August 13 to 16, 2023 in Long Beach, California

If the initial response to speakers and sponsors is any indication about the popularity of the upcoming APP 109th Annual Conference, we're in for an amazing event!

Speakers and presentations
We're pleased to note the agenda for this year's annual conference is shaping up very well! Sessions so far include our MARAD Town Hall followed by our Port Member update plus a panel on the M5 Marine Highway; FEMA's Distribution Overview and Importance of Pacific Ports; Next Generation Technologies for a Sustainable Supply Chain; and real-time continuous soundings in vessel berths. Additional sessions will focus on education and the workforce, security, environmental sustainability initiatives plus much more.

If you have suggestions for topics or presenters, contact Jane McIvor (jane@pacificports.org / 604-893-8800). But hurry -- the agenda is filling up fast!

Sponsorship
We're so pleased to announce (and thank!) a strong response to our initial call for sponsorship. In addition to our host, Port of Long Beach, The Pasha Group, Port of Stockton, Port of Redwood City, American Samoa Department of Port Administration, Momentum, MarineLabs, SSA Marine and Burns & McDonnell have all signed up already!

The APP's 109th Annual Conference provides a great opportunity to build relationships with a very targeted market: senior port executives, commissioners and management from the U.S., Canada, and the Pacific Islands; terminal operators; shipping lines; technology providers; environmental consulting and engineering firms; and equipment manufactures to name just a few. Sponsorship benefits have been designed to provide premium exposure not only on-site but leading up to the event through social media and direct email marketing.

The Venue
We've secured a great room rate ($229) at the Hotel Maya – a Doubletree by Hilton. The Maya is a full-scale resort featuring a Latin American-inspired 199 room property with a distinctive Southern California combination of spectacular, oceanfront views amidst 14 acres of lush, tropical gardens dotted with 500 palm trees in a modern, open-air setting.

And don't forget to keep checking www.PacificPortsConference.com for updates.

March 27, 2023 — A popular fishing spot is headed for a complete overhaul when the Port of Newport rebuilds the public fishing pier in South Beach. The project is in the early stages of what will be a measured, multi-step process and begins with Port officials seeking public input at a meeting on April 11, 2023. “We want to learn more about how people use the pier and how they think their crabbing or fishing experiences from the pier could be improved,” said Port Director of Operations Aaron Bretz. “Unlike the existing pier, this replacement would be built for the exact purpose of public fishing and crabbing. Gaining public input will help us as we explore all of options.”
