Port of Guam employee survey shows continued high job satisfaction
December 30, 2022 — The Port Authority of Guam conducted its third annual employee survey which showed overwhelming job satisfaction among its employees. The anonymous survey conducted earlier this month allowed participants to speak their truths on various categories involving their work experience at the Port. A total of 306 out of 346 employees completed the survey which is an 88% response rate.

Congressman Kilmer secures $750k for Port of Grays Harbor Modernization Project
December 30, 2022 — The critical first phase of the Port of Grays Harbor’s Westport Marina Modernization Project will kick-off in 2023 thanks to Community Project Funding dollars secured by Congressman Derek Kilmer in the federal 2023 fiscal year budget. The Westport Marina is the hub of tribal, commercial, charter and recreational fishing on Washington’s Coast. Ranking 10th in the nation for commercial seafood volume with more than 132 million pounds landed, and 14th in the nation for commercial seafood value landed at $71.5 million, the activities at the Westport Marina and its uplands support nearly 2,300 jobs and over $227 million in business revenue every year in rural Southwest Washington.

Port of Long Beach channel deepening project wins federal authorization
December 28, 2022 — The Port of Long Beach is kicking off 2023 with plenty to celebrate. On Dec. 23, President Joe Biden signed into law the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2022, the biennial legislation authorizing federal flood control, navigation and ecosystem improvements that include the Port’s Channel Deepening Project. “We are grateful to members of the House and Senate and the Army Corps of Engineers who championed this bill, the many lawmakers from both parties who voted for it and President Biden,” said Board of Harbor Commissioners President Sharon L. Weissman. “Their overwhelming support recognizes how vital international trade through the Port of Long Beach is to the U.S. economy.”

MarineLabs named one of Canada’s most investable cleantech ventures as a part of Foresight Canada’s 2022 Foresight 50 list
December 22, 2022 — MarineLabs was recognized recently as one of the 50 most investable cleantech ventures in Canada. Foresight is Canada’s cleantech accelerator that brings together innovators, industry, investors, government, and academia to address today’s most urgent climate issues and support a global transition to a green economy.

Keelung Port again sees brilliant results for container handling volumes
December 21, 2022 — The Keelung Port Branch of Taiwan Port Affairs Co., Ltd. has achieved outstanding performance in 2011. It is estimated that the annual container handling volume of Keelung Port will once again exceed 1.6 million TEU, and the container traffic volume of Taipei Port will increase by 10% compared with 2010. The Keelung Port Branch said that during the epidemic period, the volume of containers could reach 1.6 million TEU for two consecutive years. We would like to thank the shipping companies and port operators for their joint efforts. In addition, the Keelung Port Branch has continued to promote the relocation of the Keelung Port Military Wharf and the renovation of the back-line facilities in 2011, the upgrade plan for the counter yard on the west bank of the Keelung Port, and the completion of the Keelung Port West 16 front warehouse, and the Keelung Port East 3 to East 4 passenger service facilities.

Kongsberg establishes sensors and robotics as new business area
December 14, 2022 — Kongsberg Gruppen (KONGSBERG) is a frontrunner in shaping the maritime future by developing new opportunities throughout the ocean space. To continue this journey, KONGSBERG has started the process of establishing Sensors & Robotics as a new business area. The area has until now been a division under Kongsberg Maritime.
