Port of Long Beach CEO to chart new course at year’s end
October 2, 2025 — Longtime Port of Long Beach CEO Mario Cordero – who led the Port through an era of rapid cargo growth, a global pandemic and major modernization – announced this week he will retire at the end of 2025, capping a varied career that included an 8½-year run as Port CEO, seven years on the Federal Maritime Commission in Washington, D.C. and eight years as a member of the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners.

The General Coordinator of Ports and Merchant Marine presented the appointment of the new Director General of Ports
October 1, 2025 — The Secretariat of the Navy, through the General Coordination of Ports and Merchant Marine (CGPMM), informs that today Captain Manuel Fernando Gutiérrez Gallardo handed over the appointment to the new Director General of Ports, Captain María Marisa Abarca Hernández, who, as of October 1, assumes the position.

Port Authority of Guam announces Maritime Resilience & Innovation Summit
October 1, 2025 — The Port Authority of Guam is proud to announce the upcoming Maritime Resilience & Innovation Summit on October 22, 2025 at the Hyatt Regency Guam. This event will be part of Port Week 2025, with additional activities to be announced in the coming weeks. Building on the momentum of federal initiatives supporting national port leadership and Guam’s role in the U.S. EPA Clean Ports Program, the Summit will bring together industry, agencies, and regional stakeholders to drive progress and showcase models for environmental stewardship and maritime excellence.

Port of San Diego and Holland America Line celebrate the start of San Diego’s cruise season
September 30, 2025 — The Port of San Diego is kicking off its 2025-2026 cruise season with longtime homeport partner Holland America Line. This season offers 107 different voyages and is expected to welcome 389,000 passengers to the region. “We’re excited to set sail on another cruise season alongside long-time partners, Holland America Line,” said Chair Danielle Moore, Port of San Diego Board of Port Commissioners. “We’re grateful for all our cruise line partners including Norwegian Cruise Lines, Disney Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, and more for choosing San Diego as a homeport or as a destination on their journeys. Each cruise is an opportunity to welcome new and returning visitors to our beautiful waterfront, while also supporting local jobs and bringing guests to experience our region’s amazing attractions, hotels and restaurants.”

Port Authority of Guam secures over $1M in FEMA funding
September 30, 2025 — The Port Authority of Guam has been awarded $1,116,368 under the Fiscal Year 2025 FEMA Port Security Grant Program to deliver near term security upgrades at Guam’s only commercial seaport. The award consists of $987,276 in federal funding and a $129,092 local match. The package prioritizes physical security. Funding will install a new security barrier system at Main Gate 1 to prevent unauthorized vehicle access to restricted terminal facilities. In the event of an intended breach, the barriers are designed to stop penetration of the restricted area and reduce the risk of injury to personnel and damage to property. The grant also provides a modular floating dock system with gangway and sinkers or anchors to enhance Port Police prevention, protection, response, and recovery missions for the Port and the Territory in collaboration with U.S. Coast Guard Sector Guam.

Port of Everett awarded $1M State Recreation & Conservation Office grant
September 30, 2025 — The Port of Everett has secured a $1 million grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) to help fund renovation work at the Jetty Landing Boat Launch, the state’s largest public boat launch. The Port will begin project design early next year with in-water construction anticipated to start in 2027. Work is set conclude no later than February 2028. With 13 lanes and an average of nearly 30,000 launches each year, the boat launch at 10th Street and West Marine View Drive plays a vital role in regional recreation and emergency access to Puget Sound and beyond.

Arc Gloria Training Ship sees great turnout on visit to Port of Acapulco
September 30, 2025 — The Administration of the Acapulco National Port System carried out various activities within the framework of the visit of the Training Ship “ARC Gloria” of the Navy of the Republic of Colombia during its visit in late September. On September 23, the public was able to access guided tours from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., which resulted in a total of 1600 visitors where they were invited to participate in the event. offered the opportunity to learn more about this emblematic vessel.

Port of Long Beach names Chief Harbor Engineer
September 29, 2025 — The Port of Long Beach has named Monique Lebrun as Senior Director of the Engineering Services Bureau, a position that also carries the title of Chief Harbor Engineer. The Chief Harbor Engineer is in charge of managing and executing the Port’s portfolio of complex engineering projects, including oversight of the $3.2 billion, 10-year capital improvement program, which drives infrastructure development, modernization and sustainability initiatives.

Puerto Lázaro Cárdenas promotes environmental conservation with fourth Coastal Cleanup Day
September 29, 2025 — On September 27th, the 4th Coastal Cleanup Day was held with great success, as part of Mexico’s National Beach and Coastal Cleanup and Conservation Campaign 2025–2030. Under the slogan #YoCuidoMiPlaya (I Take Care of My Beach), the activity took place near the Coastal Boulevard, where more than 300 volunteers from the city, of all ages, participated, as well as port concessionaire companies, including APM Terminals, ArcelorMittal, Terminales Portuarias del Pacífico (TPP), Carbonser, LC Logistics GPS (TUM II), and LC Multipurpose Terminal (TUM III). Institutions such as Coca-Cola FEMSA, MANPRO, security personnel from the port, and the port’s emergency services also participated.

Port of Hueneme’s Banana Fest makes waves
September 27, 2025 — The Port of Hueneme’s 12th Annual Banana Festival set a new attendance record this past Saturday, welcoming more than 13,000 community members for a day of music, food, tours, and family fun. This year’s theme, “Making Workforce Waves Through Global Trade,” spotlighted the people who turn ships and cargo into local careers and opportunity. Festivalgoers enjoyed banana-inspired treats, live performances from Instone Live, Morie & the Heavy Hitters, Savor, and The Brandon Ragan Project, and family-friendly activities like the kids’ zone and pie-eating contest. Land and sea tours offered a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse to the Port’s operations, showing firsthand how bananas, cars, and other global goods move through Ventura County’s only deep-water harbor.
