Exciting Conference and Membership Options for Institutional Members!

Although APPAM will hold several conferences between now and the time for
#2019APPAM - including two regional student conferences, two public policy camps, Spring Conference and International Conference - planning for the
Fall Research Conference is already well underway. We began
accepting submissions for panels, posters, roundtables, single papers and super sessions on February 4, 2019, and we will continue accepting submissions through April 11, 2019. Our hope is that all submissions will contribute to the conversation on diversity not just as it is traditionally defined, but also in terms of discipline, ideology and methodology.
More immediately upon us is our
Regional Student Conference in Washington, DC, which will be presented at American University March 29 - 30, 2019. Registration for this first of APPAM's 2019 Regional student conferences opened on Friday, February 15th. For just $25, all registrants have full access to a two-day program that includes a career tips roundtable, poster and concurrent sessions, breakfast and lunch each day, and dinner on the first night.
Your students should register here by March 21st.
Finally, we are beyond ecstatic to announce that both our conferences and our year-round benefits will better accommodate our most seasoned public policy professionals, thanks to this month's
introduction of the Retired Members category. Paying only $45 annually, individuals in this membership category will have
the same benefits as Professional Members of APPAM. We look forward to better serving and highlighting the interests of our Retired Members moving forward. We encourage them and all of our Institutional members to submit proposals for our
2019 Spring Conference detailed below!

The APPAM 2019 Spring Conference -
Are We Preparing Our Students for Success? Employment Opportunities for Graduate Students - is a rare opportunity especially geared toward APPAM's Institutional Members. Its submissions process encourages academics and researchers to get creative and experiment with pedagogical approaches by submitting session proposals that are based on open-ended questions such as "What should policy students be taught?" and "Are employers' needs being met by policy graduates?"
Academic employers, non-academic employers and graduate program representatives are strongly encouraged to submit proposals for this new event. If they have questions about what to submit, they are also encouraged to ask APPAM Executive Director Tara Sheehan at
tsheehan@appam.org.
