ACT 2 IS A FREE YEAR-LONG PROGRAM THAT INCLUDES: 


  • ATTENDING BROADWAY PERFORMANCES & career conversations with behind-the-scenes crew. 


  • FIELD TRIPS to scenic, costume, and lighting shops.


  • One-on-one MENTORSHIP with industry professionals.


  • BEHIND-THE-SCENES SHADOWING opportunities backstage and on TV and film sets. 


  • Building REAL-WORLD SKILLS like résumé writing, networking, & self advocacy.

WHO CAN APPLY? Girls, including cisgender and transgender girls, and non-binary rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors from New York City public high schools.



TIME COMMITMENT: Act 2 runs September 2026-May 2027. Students meet 2-3 times a month + monthly written reflections (about a 6-10 hour commitment per month)



PROGRAM COSTS: Act 2 is completely FREE to students. A small stipend is provided to cover transportation costs.

Open Stage Project is a New York City nonprofit closing the gender gap in behind-the-scenes careers in film, TV, and theater. We offer free afterschool programs and paid fellowships to young women and non-binary students passionate about working behind-the-scenes.
