APPNA 1st Global Healthcare Summit
"A dream come true for APPNA"

A dream that came true with the help of dedicated volunteers and supporters. I can not thank enough Dr. Akhtar Hamidi, Chair of GHS, Chair GHS CME Dr. Irfan Mirza, CO-Chairs Dr. Zahid Asghar, Dr. Razi Mohammad, Dr. Aisha Najib, Dr. Muzaffar Khan and Presidents of AKU Alumni Dr. Namirah Jamshed, KE Alumni Dr. Mian Ahmed Hasan, JSMU Alumni Dr. Mansoor Alam, RMU Alumni Dr. Mubashar Mahmood, and Dow Alumni Dr. Amir Jamal. I would also like to thank Dr. Shahid Rafiq, Dr. Danish Bhatti, Dr. Irfan Suleman, Dr. Khalil Khatri, Dr. Babar Rao, Dr. Arif Muslim, Dr. Bilal Hameed, Dr. Tariq Shahab, Dr. Javed Suleman, Dr. Wajid Baig, Dr. Faika Khan, Dr. Rahat Naz and many others who helped organize multiple CME sessions and workshops. Also, I can not thank Mr. Laiq Siddiqui, our Coordinator enough who took care of the entire event beautifully and went to Pakistan twice to make sure that everything was in order. Thank You Laiq. Special thanks to Gouhar Mughees in Lahore for all his help.

Global Healthcare Summit started on 16th of December with a session at Army Medical College under the Chairship of VC of NUMS Gen. Imran Majeed and Principal AMC Gen. Saleem Khan. This session was followed by a sumptuous dinner hosted by Principal of AMC.

On the morning of 17th of December, we had a scientific session at Army Medical College followed by brunch and a photo session.




From Army Medical College, we went to Rawalpindi Medical University where an APPNA Mobile health Clinic was inaugurated, donated by RMU Alumnus Dr. Shazia Zafar. Father of Dr. Shazia Zafar inaugurated the clinic.

Dr. Zahid Asghar was the in-charge of all the activities in Lahore. On 18th of December, we had our medical scientific sessions arranged at Lahore Medical and Dental College. We had CME lectures and workshops at LMDC followed by lunch. After lunch, Appna delegates were taken to Wagah border for flag taking down ceremony. At night, an excellent dinner was arranged by President of KE Alumni Dr. Mian Ahmed Hasan at his house. The gathering at Dr. Hasan's house enjoyed a wonderful dinner followed by beautiful mehfil e ghazal.



On 19th of December, we had all our medical sessions at KE in old Patiala block, followed by lunch. This session was attended by VC of KE Dr. Gondal and Punjab Health Secretary Dr. Yasmin Rashid. After lunch, Appna delegates were taken to an inner Lahore city tour which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.




On the the evening of 19th, a very elegant Appna Banquet was held at PC Lahore. After dinner, we were entertained by world renowned singer Shazia Manzoor.



20th of December was a travel date. VC of JSMU had arranged a welcome lunch for all APPNA delegates and SMCIans at JSMU. A session for young Physicians was held by our Appna member Dr. Naghmana Shafi. The delegates thoroughly enjoyed the event.

Grand finale of Global Healthcare Summit was arranged at SIUT under the able patron-ship of Prof. Dr. Adeeb Rizvi and the entire SIUT team. My special thanks to Dr. Altaf Hashmi, Dr. Sajid Sultan and Miss. Sakina for all their help.
Two days of intense learning through didactic and interactive lectures, hands on workshop and specialty oriented sessions were the hall mark of Global Healthcare Summit at SIUT. The team at SIUT led by Prof. Dr. Adeeb Rizvi, our APPNA team led by Dr. Akhtar Hamidi and local team led by Prof. Dr. Razi Mohammad, Dean of Mohammad Medical College were at hand constantly to make sure that everything goes as planned. The partnership of APPNA and SIUT to bring this premier international level Medical Conference for Pakistani Physicians from around the globe was a huge success.


On 22nd December, APPNA held a Banquet at PC Karachi which was attended by about 600 physicians and their families. The chief guest of the event was honorable Governor of Sindh, Mr. Imran Ismail who thanked APPNA to bring such an event to the country.



All in all, APPNA Global Healthcare Summit was a huge success that helped to not only enhance the positive image of APPNA but also helped APPNA's name become a household name in the medical community. This summit needs to continue and the partnership of SIUT and APPNA will flourish further that will be mutually beneficial because of their credibility and standing in the society.

I thank the entire Host Committee, helpers, supporters and attendees of APPNA Global Healthcare Summit and wish them success in all walks of life.

I am so very thankful to Prof. Dr. Razi Mohammad, Dean of MMC, Dr. Malik Nasrullah, Mr. Richard Geary, Dr. Laila Rizvi, Dr. Agha Tariq Sajjad, Medicos society of RMU, Dr. Sultan Laghari, Mr. Shahbaz Gill, Dr. Tariq Rafi, VC of JSMU and Mr. Anwar Khan of OBAT for their operational support on the ground in Pakistan and Bangladesh. With your help and support, We will continue to expand the Mobile Health Clinic projects in USA and Pakistan and serve the people who need our services the most.

APPNA Medical Corps

APPNA Medical Corps carried out it's second medical mission to Cleft Hospital Gujrat, Pakistan from December 12 till December 18, 2018. The team composed of 3 surgeons: Dr. Zaheer Shah, Dr. Khurram Khan, Dr. Imran Ahson and 3 anesthesiologists: Dr. Zahid Rafiq, Dr. Aamir and Dr. Vaqaruddin Syed. They performed 42 Cleft Lip/Palate and hand surgeries in addition to outpatient clinics. All the work was free of charge. 



We are grateful to Dr Zahid Rafiq and Dr. Aamir from Overseas Plastic Surgery Appeal (OPSA), a UK Charity for joining the team. We also sincerely appreciate Dr. Ijaz Bashir, Chairman Cleft Hospital Gujrat for providing excellent facilities for surgeries, post op care and lodging. Our sincere thanks to the team for their willingness to help others and devote their time, money and expertise to change the lives and restore smile to very deserving children of Pakistan.
