APPNA PPS Chicago Chapter Efforts:
Dr Rizwan Khalid President APPNA 2021 was invited as Chief guest to celebrate the Inauguration Ceremony of PPS Telehealth services.
Dr Samina Hijab, President PPS. President Pakistani Descent Physicians Society -IL announced that Telehealth services are ready to serve the community those who are in need. She mentioned that the vision of the Telehealth project was not going to be possible without Joint efforts of ICNA/Relief and that it has come to a fulfillment and final shape due to PPS/ICNA Relief Collaboration.
APPN and Mercy Foundation
-Wednesday Feb 3, 2021, APPNA in partnership with Mercy Foundation provided food boxes (including meat) to 600 deserving families at Holowpaw community center, St. Cloud, (Osceola county) Florida. This is underprivileged neighborhood of central Florida.
This event was sponsored by a local APPNA member (in memory of Late Dr. Rubina Inayat and to continue her tradition), funds matched by APPNA and distribution made by Mercy Foundation. APPNA in collaboration with Mercy foundation will continue distributing food 3-4 times a month to underserved communities of central Florida under APPNA Rubina Inayat memorial Food pantry.
APPNA/ICNA Efforts
-Sunday, February 7th, 2021, APPNA/ICNA Relief mobile clinic free community health fair was organized along with a blood drive in collaboration with Redcross at MAS community center in Richardson, TX. 38 participants received free health screenings including blood pressure, blood sugar, lipid panel testing and also received free flu shots and donated blood. On-site physician consultation was also provided.
-Saturday, February 13th, 2021, as a part of mission to serve our communities in dire need and alleviate human suffering, ICNA Relief and APPNA took the initiative and organized a well-coordinated mega distribution of winter supplies including blankets, pillows, jackets, socks, gloves, masks, caps, hygiene kits, food items, water etc in n order to help the people in Dallas, TX, to survive and endure record breaking single digit freezing temperatures.
-Saturday, February 20, 2021, ICNA Relief local team distributed more than 500 care packages including gloves, caps and socks to the homeless people at the Dallas convention center. Despite the unexpected, unprecedented, devastating historic snow storm, power & water outages since last week and other challenges, ICNA Relief with the support of APPNA, has been on the ground, helping the people in dire need.
APPNA Efforts in Pakistan
-Tuesday, February 16, 2021, APPNA in partnership with Khana Gher serving food/ration to deserving families in Karachi. 150 families were provided food/ration packages at Khana Gher in Khuda Ki Basti, Karachi.
It was sponsored by APPNA-DMV chapter and funds matched by APPNA LTM Dr. Ayyaz Qureshi, distribution performed by Khana Gher. We acknowledge Mrs Parveen Saeed (Khana Gher) for her efforts in organizing the distribution.
-Friday, February 12, 2021, APPNA provided Shoes to 157 Deserving Children in Tando Muhammad Khan, Sindh (35 km from Hyderabad) beneficiaries chosen by HDF Administrative Coordination & Logistics provided by CDRS.
It was sponsored by APPNA-MN chapter (MAPP), funds matched by APPNA, and distribution performed by CDRS staff.

-Wednesday Feb 10, 2021, APPNA/CDRS distributed shoes to 105 deserving children with Nizhat Shahid and her organization, Business & Professional Women’s Organization (BPWO), at Women’s Welfare Centre, Faisal Town, Lahore.
These children come from very poor families and their education is sponsored by BPWO. It was sponsored by APPNA-MN chapter (MAPP), funds matched by APPNA We deeply appreciate APPNA-MN chapter executive committee and donors for their generous contribution and collaboration under leadership of Dr. Bushra Dar (president APPNA-MN chapter, MAPP).
-Saturday/Sunday February 13/14, 2021, 170 families were provided food/ration packages at Khana Gher in Khuda Ki Basti, Karachi. On behalf of APPNA, they will also be serving free hot meals over the next three days.

-Friday, February 12, 2021, APPNA provided 17 ICU beds to Mayo Hospital Lahore, Pakistan. 17 ICU beds were sponsored by Dallas KE group, funds matched by APPNA and delivery performed by CDRS.
We are thankful to Dallas KE group for their ongoing charitable contributions. Dr Sumera Babar Sehgol, KE class of 88 initiated this project after her mother was admitted to ICU at Mayo and she saw the condition of the ICU beds. The Dallas KE doctors and others then joined and together raised the funds.
