2020 for APPNA like the rest of the world has been a very unusual year. This year since there was no summer meeting the usual venue for announcing APPNA Awards it was announced through mass mail. 

2020 APPNA Awards committee is:
Chair - Arif Toor, Co-Chair - Arif Muslim, Advisor - Aslam Malik, Members; Javed Suleman, Mohamad Suleman, Mahmood Alam, Sajid Chaudhary.

Results of the Committee deliberation and decisions for 2020 APPNA wards are:

APPNA Award of excellence to an APPNA Chapter: PPS Illinois
Honorable Mention in this Category went to: APPNA Alberta Chapter.

APPNA Award of excellence to an Alumni organization: King Edward Medical College Alumni Association (KEMCAANA)

Nov-5APPNA CABL Committee Retreat

APPNA CABL Committee had a Retreat on November 6-8, 2020 in Newark NJ. The Retreat was attended by all 9 members of the Committee  --- 7 in person and 2 virtually by zoom.

Having been entrusted with the important task of taking a complete and comprehensive look at the Constitution and By-Laws of the organization, the CABL Committee has been meeting regularly every two weeks since its formation in February 2020.
I am pleased to report that we covered a lot of ground with sessions dedicated to different areas of the CABL. The topics discussed included among others:
- Vision & Mission Statement
- Core Values (Aims & Objectives)
- Membership  (Dues & Assessments)
- Internal Structure & Organization (component societies, alumni organizations, regional chapters, affiliate organizations)
- Governance (Board of Directors, Council, Trustees, House of delegates)
- Committees (composition, membership, duties)
- Elections (canvassing, duration, timing and process).

Nov-6Update on APPNA YPNA App

The App was released on Aug 31st and there has been tremendous activity.

First here are the numbers
Total number of young professionals who just looked at the App as of today is 266
The total number who completed profile , made payment and are on the App are 60. Total male participants 13. Total Female participants 47

We have already rolled out an improved version which will replace the current version in a couple of weeks. Least to say it's a work in progress and In Sha Allah we will not settle for less.

To Make this App more purposeful for our Young Professionals we will work on different strategies to: 
1. Populate the App 
 2. Improve Male to Female Ratio
 3. Better utilization of the APP by the participants
 4. Revitalizing the Concept of Friendship and Networking as a very important feature of the App
 5. Staying focussed on the Ultimate Goal of helping our Young adults to find soulmates, getting married and making strong family units. These units Insha Allah will be the building bricks of a strong Future Muslim society, Ameen.

Nov-7Social Welfare Projects
Combined Effort of APPNA SWDRC and COVID 19 Taskforce

APPNA / ICNA EFFORTS
- APPNA/ICNA Relief mobile clinic continue serving our communities
Free community health fairs have been organized on October 31 and November 6 at Dallas, TX, November 13 in Lombard, IL and Garland, Texas on Friday November 20, 2020, Attendees received health screening, flu vaccines and ICNA Relief tote bag with 5 masks, hand sanitizer, Antibacterial wipes, Listerine mouthwash, dental floss & Covid-19 information brochure. Free blankets were also distributed to the local indigent families. In Dallas, designer traditional dresses (donated by APPNA members) were also distributed amongst refugee families.

- Saturday October 31st, 2020, APPNA/ICNA Relief NY mobile clinic in partnership with New York blood center held a successful blood drive at masjid Hamza, valley stream, NY. 

- APPNA in partnership with ICO (Islamic center of Orlando) continue to provide food/ration to help our communities affected by COVID-19 pandemic.
November 9, 2020, 400 families were provided food/ration during a drive-through event at ICO (Jama Masjid), Lake Buena Vista area Orlando, FL.


APPNA and its members continue to provide food/ration to help our communities during COVID-19 pandemic. Sunday November 22, 2020,  70 families were provided Food/ration Packs in Chung and Mohlanwal areas, Multan Road Lahore.
200 Hot Meals (Chicken Biryani) distributed to handyman daily wage workers at Liaqat Chowk Sabzazar Scheme, Lahore. It was sponsored by Mashal Hussain (an APPNA donor from Iowa), funds matched by APPNA and distribution organized by Mr. Rashid Javed.











Nov-8APPNA Chapters and Alumni Projects

APPNA in partnership with SAF (Shahid Afridi Foundation) continue to provide food/ration to help our communities in rain affected areas of Karachi and Sindh.
October 29, 2020, 160 families served in Bin Qasim Town, Karachi.
October 30, 2020, 165 families served in Surjani Town, Karachi.
Each bag consists of supplies for a family of 5, lasting approximately 15 days.
Flour-10 kg, Pulses-1 kg, Chana-2 kg, Rice-2 kg, Sugar-2 kg, Cooking Oil-2 kg, Soap-1 Bar, Salt-1 packet
Oct 29 distribution was sponsored by PPS (APPNA IL chapter) and funds matched by APPNA.

APPNA in partnership with Khana Gher serving food/ration to rain/flood affected areas of Karachi.
Thursday October 29, 2020, 2nd food drive was accomplished, 200 deserving families were provided food ration packages at Khana Gher in Khuda Ki Basti, Karachi. It is sponsored by APPNA-DMV chapter and funds matched by APPNA. 

November 8, 2020 APPNA in partnership with "Amigos welfare trust for the blind person" distributed ration/food packages at the office of Amigos welfare trust for the blind person, located at 17 Mezzanine floor KDA apartment block A North Nazimabad Karachi, 60 Visually Impaired member's families were served from all districts of karachi such as Korangi, Malir, west, south, east, and Central . White canes and financial assistance were also provided. It was sponsored by APPNA South Florida chapter, funds matched by APPNA

Friday November 6, 2020, 70 families were served with Food Packs in Ravi Clifton Kachi Abadi Near Jahangir Tomb and Shadrah Town, Lahore.This food distribution was sponsored by By Dr Muhammad Asim from Qatar, KE class of 85, funds matched by APPNA.
