Budget and Finance Committee Meeting on Senior and Disability Cuts

San Francisco is facing a $1 billion budget deficit, and proposed cuts could have serious impacts on seniors and people with disabilities. The City is considering a $2.9 million reduction to the Department of Disability & Aging Services (DAS), with over $1 million affecting community-based programs that support health, independence, and connection. We encourage seniors, people with disabilities, caregivers, and allies to attend the hearing and share how these services make a difference in their lives.

Litquake's Elder Project, Decentered Arts, local artists of all ages—and you! Open mic time is available for pieces under 3 minutes.

This free event also features a community potluck; please bring a dish to share. Beverages provided.

April 13: Pentangle
Richie Unterberger spotlights Pentangle, the influential British folk-rock group whose original lineup flourished in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Featuring rare performance clips and commentary, this program explores the artistry of Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, and Jacqui McShee, as well as the band’s lasting cult following in both Britain and the United States.

April 27: Tim Buckley 
This program examines the adventurous career of singer-songwriter Tim Buckley, whose music spanned folk-rock, jazz, and experimental styles. Though he never achieved major commercial success, Buckley’s extraordinary vocal range and artistic evolution are showcased through vintage film clips and expert commentary.

ART VIEWING ADVENTURES: MONET AND VENICE AT THE DE YOUNG MUSEUM

Monet and Venice is a major international art exhibition coming to San Francisco’s de Young Museum from March 21 to July 26, 2026. It’s co-organized with the Brooklyn Museum and marks the first dedicated show in over a century focused on Claude Monet’s series of Venetian cityscapes.

WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY

EARTH DAY/SF CLIMATE WEEK
April 18 - 26

Earth Day, celebrated each year on April 22, is a global reminder of our shared responsibility to protect the planet and take action on climate change, conservation, and sustainability. In San Francisco, that spirit continues through SF Climate Week (April 18–26, 2026), a dynamic, community-driven series of events bringing together thousands of participants, organizations, and ideas to accelerate climate solutions. The week kicks off on Saturday, April 18, 2026, with a vibrant welcome event at Yerba Buena Gardens, featuring an Earth Day festival and a green business expo celebrating sustainability, community, and local innovation. Throughout the week, residents can engage in panels, workshops, and hands-on activities across the Bay Area. ARAB AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH

April is Arab American Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the rich history, culture, and contributions of Arab Americans across the United States. It is also an opportunity to uplift diverse voices, challenge stereotypes, and foster greater understanding and inclusion. WHAT ELSE TO KNOW

SUPPORT SB 1052: ACT NOW TO PROTECT VULNERABLE CALIFORNIANS

Support is urgently needed for SB 1052 (Gonzalez), a bill that would allow the State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) to designate “contingent” authorized representatives—trusted individuals who can step in if a caregiver is suddenly unavailable. Advocates are asking organizations and community members to submit letters of support and help ensure this critical protection moves forward before its upcoming legislative deadlines.

This bill addresses a serious gap in current law that can leave people with intellectual and developmental disabilities without advocacy or access to services in times of crisis. By creating a clear, proactive system for backup support, SB 1052 helps prevent disruptions in care and protects individual rights. Community members are encouraged to act now by submitting support letters and spreading the word to ensure strong backing for this important legislation.

SAN FRANCISCO TECH WEEK

Community Living Campaign (CLC) is proud to announce its participation in San Francisco Tech Week 2026, a citywide celebration of digital learning, innovation, and connection hosted by the San Francisco Public Library. Taking place from May 9–16, Tech Week brings together community organizations, educators, and technology leaders to help residents build skills, explore new tools, and access free resources that support everyday life.

As a longtime leader in digital inclusion and technology training for older adults and people with disabilities, CLC is excited to contribute a series of hands-on workshops and community-based learning experiences. From practical computer skills to creative photo walks and accessibility-focused trainings, CLC’s programming reflects its mission to ensure that everyone—regardless of age or ability—can confidently engage with today’s digital world. These sessions are free and designed to be welcoming, multilingual, and accessible to all.
