Hello Tim,

Last weekend provided a taste of the resistance to the assault on our democracy. Many SWWAPers attended the Hands Off Rally in Madison, whether via a bus chartered by Indivisible Southwest Wisconsin or by driving or carpooling with neighbors. Attendees joined over 10,000 others who are calling for an end to the Republican attack on liberties which we have won through continual struggle. The next such rally will happen on April 19. We strongly encourage all to stay engaged.

This newsletter shares an action alert on the censorship handed down to those who work at the US Department of Agriculture. In addition, we are happy to announce the 16th Annual Grassroots Festival and the next Reimagine Resistance event at Brix Cider. This newsletter shares inspirational videos from the recent Rally and Schoolhouse Concert. And no newsletter would not be complete without with some great news from Jessica Craven.

A video recap of last weekend's Hands Off Rally

SWWAP thanks the Indivisible Southwest Wisconsin Group for arranging the bus ride to the Hands Off Rally. SWWAP shares Wisconsin Assembly and Senate districts with this group.

We will be working with Indivisible Southwest Wisconsin in the future and will help promote common events.

Indivisible Southwest Wisconsin is a group of concerned citizens in the southwest corner of Wisconsin. Their mission is to pursue inclusive democracy by taking action in the Dodgeville, Mineral Point, Platteville and Spring Green area communities, supporting progressive causes, and working with other progressive groups to impact policy and lives, especially of those who are disadvantaged, in any way they can. To find out more about this group, please contact: indivisiblesouthwestwi@gmail.com .

HANDS OFF!

April 19, 1775 was the start date

of the American Revolution

Join the nation-wide protest, April 19, 2025

Donald Trump and Elon Musk are dismantling our federal government in a brazenly illegal power grab, while congress stands by and abdicates its sworn constitutional duty. The time is NOW for the citizens of this country to stand up and make our voices heard. Our democracy is not for sale, it is not negotiable, and we will fight to protect it.

WE ARE CALLED AGAIN TO TAKE A STAND AGAINST AUTOCRACY. Plans are ongoing for the next HANDS OFF RALLY !

"Democracy looks like millions of Americans taking to the streets in peace and determination, anger and resolve, joy and optimism, firm in our belief that we will take back the reins of government from imposters and demagogues who hijacked our democracy for profit and personal power". ~ Robert B. Hubbell

CENSORSHIP AT THE USDA

leaked memo from the USDA Agricultural Research Service revealed that the agency has banned some key language from its vocabulary, including such words as “climate” and “vulnerable,” as well as the phrase “safe drinking water.” All told over a hundred words are banned from being used at the agency. CLICK ON PHOTO BELOW TO SEE BRILLIANT TAKE DOWN OF USDA CENSORSHIP BY MAINE'S US REP. CHELLIE PINGREE.

ACTION ALERT - Here are 3 things we can all do to address the the over 100 words banned from the USDA.

  1. Contact your representatives , MARK POCAN, TAMMY BALDWIN & RON JOHNSON. Let them know that censorship is unAmerican and the order is detrimental to Americans who rely on USDA Services.
  2. Contact the author of the memo, Sharon Strickland. Her email is Sharon.Strickland@usda.gov. Let her know how toxic this ban is.
  3. Forward information on the USDA censorship to others and consider writing a letter to the editor to express your outrage.

If all of this feels like we have autocratic rule, we do. To fight an autocratic regime it is important to recognize the warning signs. CLICK HERE to go to a post by Ray Williams. How many warning signs do you recognize in what is happening ito America in 2025?
